BEFORE YOU FOLLOW ALONG ON THE CALENDAR BELOW - READ THIS! Mercury moved into Leo for nearly a two-month long transit from June 29, 2018 until Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Mercury typically stays in a sign for a 15 to 17 days, but when there is a Retrograde period this can stretch that time period out to a couple of months in one sign and sometimes two signs if it Retrogrades back into the previous sign. This time around Mercury will remain in Leo during its Retrograde period. The shadow period of a Retrograde is the time period that occurs before and after the retrograde period of a planet. The starting point is when the planet first passes the degree of the zodiac that it will eventually retrograde back to (in the case below on the calendar, you will see that represented at 11 degrees on July 7, 2018), and the shadow period ending once it eventually passes the degree that it originally retrograded on, (in the case below on the calendar, you will see that represented at 23 degrees on September 2, 2018 because it was 23 degrees when Mercury turned Retrograde). The storm period is about one week before Mercury turns Retrograde and about one week after Mercury turns Direct. The storm period before Mercury Retrogrades is when Mercury begins to slow down, which you can see on the calendar. It looks like it slows down on July 12, 2018 but it's really right at about July 16, 2018 when Mercury really slows down a lot at 17 degreese. You have to take into account the time because that will tell you if it was a full day, or a half day, or a day and a half at a certain degree. The storm period after Mercury Retrogrades lasts right about until August 28, 2018 where Mercury is again at 17 degrees. The storm period is the gradual slow down of Mercury or the gradual speed up of Mercury getting back to its normal speed. While you may experience glitches, mishaps, miscommunications, detours and delays during the storm period, these glitches will not last as long or be as intense as they will be during Mercury in full-blown Retrograde. Mishaps during the storm period is just a pain in the ass and not usually a pain in the pocketbook. Retrogrades give us a 'DO OVER' - meaning we get three (3) chances to get it right before progressing foward. Below you will see where we pass over a set of degrees, then the degrees go backward (Retrograde = Rx) and then they move forward again passing over the same set of degrees a third time. So we get the first chance to get it right, then we get the second chance and then we get the third chance before we progress forward.
