One of the most important things to learn on our spiritual progression path is the power and influence of our spoken word. Often times, when we make a statement or a declaration, we are unconsciously stating what we are willing to call forth into our reality. And sometimes our spoken word is exactly the opposite of that which we dream and desire.
We live in an age of spiritual enlightenment and at the same time societal unrest. With the constant barrage of negative spoken words such
as; can't, don't, won't, didn't, couldn't, shouldn't, coulda, woulda, shoulda, if only, no, maybe, I wish, and I hope, blasting the
unconscious mind, it's no wonder the common belief is that life is supposed to be difficult and laborious instead of easy and effortless.
But, the truth is:
[God said,] "For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it,
and to thy seed for ever." Genesis 14:15
Do you see yourself filled with lack, limitation, self-doubt, fear, worry,
and anxiety?
OR do you "choose" to see yourself filled with wealth, prosperity, confidence,
courage, calm and patience?
Do you see yourself in a job or career that is low paying with no possibility
for growth or advancement?
OR do you "choose" to see yourself in a job or career that has rewarding pay
and unlimited growth?
Do you see yourself in a relationship that is full of discontent and sadness?
OR do you see yourself in a relationship that is filled with Love, romance,
understanding and kindness.
When we affirm something, we make it "firm." Since we have the ability of
conscious control, then we can choose to have conscious control over our
spoken word. The conscious mind "acts," and the subconscious mind "reacts."
Therefore, we can train our conscious mind to act in a certain way so that our
subconscious mind will react automatically. When we change our spoken word by
using positive affirmations, we have also changed our thinking.
[Moses asked God,] "When I come unto the children of Israel and they ask,
"What is His name? What shall I say unto them?" God said to Moses,
"I AM that I AM." Tell them
"I AM" hath sent you unto them." This "I AM" presence lives within all of us
because we are all children of God. Since we are children of God, we are also His
heir. And since we are His heir, then we are entitled to His divine abundance.
And since He made and owns everything, you are entitled to receive everything.
Therefore, beginning your affirmation with "I AM" calls the conscience mind to embrace
the God presence within. The repetition of an affirmation beginning with "I AM"
stengthens and supports clarity.
God wants to give us our heart's desire, only we turn Him down by not believing or
having Faith in what He can do for us. God doesn't say, "No." We do! We say,
"No," out of disbelief, doubt and worry.
So when your spoken word starts with "I AM," and since this is God's name,
then it should appropriately be followed by a Divine statement.
i.e. I AM a Divine manifestation of God and entitled to His Divine
abundance.
Affirmations state what you believe to be true and what you are consciously
calling into your life. It's completely your choice and completely
voluntarily.
God always used 40 days as a time of transformation. It was period of trial,
probation or a transitory period. Whenever He was making big changes, 40 was
always the amount of days or years necessary in order for change to occur.
Jesus prayed in the desert for 40 days, the Great Flood lasted 40 days, the
Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years, Moses and Elijah both spent 40 days
on top of Mt. Sinai, the Lenten season lasts 40 days, the gestation of a human
being is 40 weeks and even the TV show "Survivor" lasts 40 days.
I propose the reason why many 30 day programs have such a low success rate is
because they fall short of the necessary time for change to take place. They
lack the additional 10 days for transformation to occur.
When you write or say these affirmations, write them or say them at least 40X
daily for 40 days. It takes 40 days to impress upon the unconscious "reacting"
mind all that you desire and dream. Then it becomes automatic behavior in the
conscious "acting" mind. Affirmations are the same as doing any type of
repetitive exercise to change or learn a new behavior.
If you get side-tracked and miss a day then go back to Day 1 and start over. First, call to mind what caused you to divert your attention from your affirmations and second, be truly grateful for the awareness. Now you'll know how important it is to change your subconscious mind.
Put 40 beads, coins or beans in a cup and when you say each affirmation, take
out 1 bead, coin or bead. In this way, you will not have to focus on counting
your affirmations and you will be able to meditate on the affirmation while at
the same time "feeling" it as well. It is VERY important to say the affirmation
slowly with feeling. Give yourself time to let your body "feel" the affirmation.
If you affirmation refers to "wealth," then "feel" the wealth. If your affirmation
refers to "Love," then allow yourself to "feel" Love all around you.
"Enjoy" saying your affirmations and the Power of your spoken word.
