URANUS IN ARIES RETROGRADE (Rx) 'The Tilted Planet'

Is it Ur-ran-us or Ur-anus? Actually, both are acceptable pronounciations, but I say Ur-ran-us simply because Ur-anus sounds gross. The Uranus glyph represents the cross of matter confined at both sides where matter is being forced up from the bottom circle of spirit. Wherever Uranus shows up, it will force change in your Life. Let's look at the graphic to the left and think about that first line again because it is important. Notice the cross in the middle. The cross of matter. Matter is that which is physical substance, which is different from the mind and spirit. The matter is being confined from both sides, almost like it is being squeezed, as if two walls were coming closer together confining the space of matter. As the squeeze continues, our spirit from the bottom circle shows what we are made of and starts pushing up on matter. Like squeezing toothpaste out of a tube. The spirit engages, pushes on matter and shows us just what we are made of and what we can do with our lives. I LOVE THIS GLYPH! So if you are feeling the squeeze of Uranus, its trying to get your spirit to get a move on and to take some physical action. Some of us work better under pressure, with two confining walls pressing in on us, to squeeze something really wonderful out of us.

Uranus (the tilted planet) is the higher octave of Mercury, and both have their place in the weather. While Mercury rules the wind, Uranus rules strong winds. Uranus essentially brings Life to the wind. In fact, in Greek mythology Uranus personifies the sky and gives it a human nature (Mother Nature). When we hear the rumblings of thunder that's one thing, but hearing and seeing lightning strike, then we suddenly get the idea that it just got real. Uranus personifies the sky! Something is definitely goin' down.

Did you know that Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius? Uranus was only discovered in 1781, so if Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, what ruled Aquarius before 1781 because we know Astrology has been around practically forever! Saturn is the ancient ruler of Aquarius, while Uranus is the modern day ruler of Aquarius. And did you know that Uranus is the father of Saturn, while Saturn is the father of Jupiter. That's a little Greek and Roman mythology for ya'. Uranus is also the only planet named after a Greek god instead of a Roman god, like Saturn and Jupiter. So, contrary to popular belief, Uranus was not named after Uranium. It was Uranium that was named after Uranus.

Even though Uranus is Aquarius's ruling planet, Uranus happens to be in the sign of Aries right now. Since Uranus takes 84 years to orbit the Sun, it will spend approximately 7 to 8 years in each sign. This round of Uranus in the sign of Aries began on March 11, 2011 and will last until March 6, 2019 completing 8 full years for this transit. As you will see on the calendar, in May 2018 Uranus will move into Taurus until November 2018 and then it will move back into Aries until March 2019. This will be due to a Retrograde (Rx). So you see, Uranus is nearing the end of its transit in Aries. As a planet grows in degrees, so it grows in strength. The closer it gets to 29 degrees, 59 minutes, the closer it gets to finishing the job it started. As you can see from Uranus Retrograde Map, Uranus will Retrograde at 28 degrees and Retrograde back to 24 degrees, which shows us that Uranus in Aries is nearing the end of its transit in Aries.

Uranus is known for being a very 'unique' planet and for calling our attention to that which is 'unusual'. Uranus has a very 'strange' look about it. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that Uranus is known as 'the tilted planet' because it rotates on its side. How unusual! So if Uranus is on its side, are Uranus's North and South pole really North and South or East and West? How strange! Uranus on its sides presents both of its poles to the Sun at the same time. This means both hemispheres on one side are bathed in light by the Sun, while the other side has both hemispheres bathed in total darkness. It's wild! Unusual to say the least. Sure, most planets are tilted 'a bit' but not like Uranus. It is literally on its side. How odd! I bet you won't forget how unusual Uranus is now, will you?

URANUS KEYWORDS: Reform, rebellious, different, unusual, independent, genius, originality, individuality, ingenuity, new ideas, unconventional ideas, discoveries, inventive, changing, electrifying, electricity, powerful, nervous energy, mentally impacting, sudden changes and destroys the old in order to bring about the new, democracy and revolutions. Also consider that Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, which rules the nervous system, which is our own physical electrical system.

Since Uranus rules Aquarius, which is the natural ruler of groups and masses, then it stands to reason that Uranus governs societies, memberships, clubs, organizations and any group based on humanitarian or progressive ideals. Uranus, being the ruler of electricity, is also the planet of sudden and unexpected changes (like lightning). Socially speaking, Uranus rules radical ideas and the people who have those radical ideas, as well as any revolutionary events that upset the establishment. Back in 1781 when Uranus was discovered, this was time period of the Romantic movement, which had everything to do with artistic, literary, musical and intellectual thoughts, talents, skills and interests. The Romantic movement also emphasized freedom of expression, individuality and creativity.

Now that you understand why Uranus is so unique, unusual and strange, and the time period in history when Uranus was discovered, then maybe now it will be easier to turn your thoughts inward and think about how Uranus impacts you. It is also important to note that Uranus is a 'generational planet' meaning due to its long orbit around the Sun (7 to 8 years) it affects an entire generation of people. Uranus isn't like one of the personal planets, like the Moon, Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars that are closest to the earth and affect us the most and most often. Generational planets affect us over a long period of time and as a huge group of people.

Since Uranus is one of the 'outer planets' then think of the outer planets as affecting us from the outside in, not the inside out. In other words, circumstances externally are affecting us internally, rather than something like our emotions (internal) impacting our reactions (external environment).

During this Retrograde (Rx) period you will no doubt hear a lot of fear. Just sail right over those words and think about what was going on between March 28, 2017 and April 13, 2017 that was coming from the outside world that was affecting you inside. Something externally was affecting you internally. That's how outer planets work. That's how we end up with our fist in the air and rebel as a group, instead of as an individual. While Uranus may be a planet of individual expression, it sure does like to gather in groups. I guess because it naturally rules Aquarius, the sign of the groupie! Are you a groupie or can you really think on your own? How original, creative, free and inventive are you? While Uranus in Aries is certainly the transit of the 'rebel rouser' and the 'agent of change', do your best to look at your external environment and see how this has affected you internally. What is going on outside of yourself that is affecting your 'self'. Once you are in touch with your internal environment, this is where you get to be the 'change agent' of yourself. And to have Uranus in the sign of Aries, who carries the motto 'I am therefore I am' I believe this to be incredibly significant. The change is about 'I am' meaning you.

While it is easy enough to go back in time and watch people lose their minds in the streets, yelling and throwing things (Wow Wee) that really doesn't do much for your Astrology if you are paying more attention to the anarchists and not yourself. Ok, ok, ok, as a generational planet we can see an entire generation of people go mad (crazy), but I would rather know that you are using Astrology to study yourself. This is where you can go back in time and see where you may have missed an 'unusual' opportunity to be stretch your creativity, grab your freedom of expression, show off your inventiveness and originality, and become the person who God designed and intended you to be. Starting on August 3, 2017 until January 2, 2018 we have five (5) months to get our creative streak going again. Remember, we are creative and God is the Creator. We are the small 'c' and He is the capital 'C'. We are to co-Create with God and you can use the power, strangeness, uniqueness and ingenuity of Uranus Retrograde to get you there. You are just as unique, strange and unusual as Uranus because there is no one like you either. This should be easy to couple your energy with Uranus.
