The way I use the Aries house in my own personal natal chart is I am competitive with my 'self'. Remember, Aries rules the 'self'. I'm out to do my own personal best, not align myself side-by-side with someone else and their personal best. That would take the focus on me and my mission. Do not self-promote in the way of self-centeredness, instead self-promote in the way of letting others know what you are about and what you have to offer.
