CANCER - "I FEEL THEREFORE I AM."
Venus moves into Cancer on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10:54 EDT until Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 12:30 AM EDT.
Venus transits a Sun Sign right at about every 30 days and sometimes up to 60 days depending on its motion, meaning if it involves a Retrograde or not (like it did when Venus was in Aries).
The Venus glyph is the upright symbol of Mars, where Venus is feminine (yin) energy and Mars is masculine (yang) energy. It is represented by the circle of spirit over the cross of matter. It represents the spirit overcoming matter through Love. Venus is the yin side of our emotional nature and rules Love, beauty, harmony, affection, appreciation, sensual, vanity, flirtatious, art, music and aesthetics. The house that Venus occupies in your Natal Chart or Solar Return is where these characteristics will manifest the most.
Venus reveals how we like to relate to our environment and other people. Venus also shows how you express your emotions in personal relationships, especially where marriage and Love are concerned. Venus will reveal if we are attracted to strong, sensual and intense relationships or if we prefer freedom and independence. It also indicates what we value, and therefore is linked with money, personal possessions, resources, creature comforts, aesthetic, social values and morals. The house that Venus occupies in your Natal Chart or Solar Return is where these characteristics will manifest the most.
Here is a nice little piece of Venus trivia for you. Venus will never be more than two Sun Signs away from the Sun. This means someone who has their Sun in Cancer, will have their Venus within 2 Sun Signs on either side of Cancer or it will be in the sign of Cancer. This means there are five possibilities that a Cancer Sun Sign individual might have their Venus -- Venus in Taurus, Venus in Gemini, Venus in Cancer, Venus in Leo or Venus in Virgo. This helps you guess someone's Venus even if you don't know their exact birthdate but you know their Sun Sign. You can rule out Venus in the opposite sign (Capricorn) and the three signs on each side Capricorn (Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius) and (Aquariusm, Pisces, Aries). Cool huh?
Venus is the planet of Love, romance, pleasure, relationships, self-worth, dignity and all things beautiful. Venus also rules our self-worth, personal finances, earned income, morals and values. Venus is like the Greek root phil- or philo- which means to have a Love of or strong affinity for something or someone. So when you think of Venus in your Natal Chart or Solar Return think "Love of" whatever sign is involved.
This placement is absolutely devoted to the family. More than anything, those with this placement in their personal natal chart would rather be with their family than anyone else. It doesn't matter if it's shopping, vacation or hanging out at home, Venus in Cancer enjoys and Loves family. Also, those with this placement in their personal natal chart seek out marriage more than a full-blown Libra who naturally rules marriage and partnerships. This is because stability in the home and family mean everything to Venus in Cancer. Libra is more about companionship and working as a team, whereas with Cancer it is all about stability, feeling Loved and secure.
This placement creates a drive to own a home, which means there will be more people seeking to own a home under Venus in Cancer. This should be great for the real estate industry. It is very rare that you will see someone with Venus in Cancer in their natal chart who does not have a house, not an apartment, but a house. A house is what gives Venus in Cancer security. A man without a house will seek out a woman who has a house, and a woman without a house will seek out a man who has a house. Owning a home is a major goal for Venus in Cancer.
The home is a place of activity, socializing and beauty. Home projects become more important right now as they are a channel for Love of the home and family. You can easily tell a Cancer home, Venus in Cancer home or a Cancer Moon home because they are the ones with the big flower beds and welcome mat at the front door. In other words, there is a lot of work that goes into maintaining the home and it shows. Even those who are single with Venus in Cancer in their natal chart who do not own their own home, will invariably find someone who does own their own home and then marry them. They probably don't even know that is one of the reasons why they find the other person attractive but it's True.
Emotionally this is a very romantic placement that is deeply sensitive. Venus in Cancer people are gift givers and enjoy receiving gifts as well. It's about as 'Gooey-Love' as you can get. It's really not about PDA (public display of affection) as much as it is a 'display of feeling'. After all, the Cancer motto is, "I feel therefore I am." They need expression of Love sent to them and they need to give it. Being so deeply sensitive, this placement does get its feelings hurt rather easily. The individual with this placement may seem tough on the outside but they are a bag of mush on the inside. And of course they would be tough on the outside because Cancer the crab has an exoskeleton. Their skeleton is on the outside of their body, so they do come across as hard. Moods that have to do with Love fluctuate like the water sign it is in, which is Cancer, a water sign. When it comes to Love, this placement is over-moody, over-emotional and over-sensitive.
Cancer is a maternal sign, where its counterpart (the opposite sign of Capricorn) is the paternal sign. This means that Venus in Cancer is very maternal and if placed in a man's chart he will have more maternal instincts than paternal instincts. This could easily be the stay-at-home dad or the extremely involved father on the sidelines who never misses a game. When placed in a woman's chart she will be extremely maternal and devoted to the family including husband and children. Even if you do not have Venus in Cancer in your personal natal chart this transit is still moving over the house in your chart that is ruled by Cancer and it will influence you toward family. You may even find yourself going back to the place of your birth, childhood or visiting your parents during this time.
Remember to check-in with your Natal Chart or Solar Return to see where Cancer is so you can see how Venus in Cancer will show up for you personally rather than as an entire sign Stay Astrologized™.
