What an interesting day for Mother's Day to end up with the Moon in Capricorn, which is the opposite sign that the mother rules. Capricorn rules the father, while Cancer rules the mother. For those of you clicking in from another country, today is Mother's Day in the United States. The Moon in Capricorn is in its detriment because the Moon naturally rules Cancer and the Moon is in its opposite sign today. The 'detrimental' placement is like a fiesty child throwing a temper tantrum in the grocery store. Basically, it acts out inappropriately at the wrong time and wrong place. Just remember this placement as you roll through this day.

This Capricorn Moon carries the motto, "I use therefore I am," which makes Capricorn the utilitarian of the zodiac. Capricorn utilizes wherein everything is a tool to be used and that includes people as well. I do not mean this in a negative emotional tanglement sense where one person yells out to the other, "You used me!" That is not what I'm talking about here. I'm talking about using everything and everyone to help you get to the place that you need to be, which includes learning. The only thing Capricorn needs to remember at all times while they are using is they should still be standing in integrity. That is the keyword, integrity. If integrity is lacking, then you will be out of alignment with your using technique wherever Capricorn resides in your Natal Chart or Solar Return. It's really that simple.

Capricorn is skeptical, practical, cold and hard, while its opposite sign of Cancer is emotional, over-sensitive, moody and soft. Now folks, remember when contemplating opposing signs, that is exactly what they are, opposite! It is not that they are just opposite on the chart wheel, they are as opposite in energy, as night and day, which is what makes opposing signs so easy to figure out. Since Cancer rules the mother, well then guess who rules the father? CAPRICORN! If Cancer is nurturing mother energy, then Capricorn is the authority figure and disciplinarian. If Cancer rules the 4th house of home, family, domestic happenings, what is going on inside the home and the biological and psychological foundation of your Life, then Capricorn rules the opposite house, which is the 10th house which is what we are like outside of the home and family, who we are outside of the home, where we are a completely different person outside of the home in our career and public Life.

Capricorn is all business and no monkey business with enough seriousness for everyone and then some. How interesting is it that Cancer is moody, sensitive and emotional, while Capricorn is sobering, practical and serious.

Now that you have contemplated the difference between Capricorn and Cancer, then you can see why it is so odd that Mother's Day occurs during a Capricorn Moon. Today is more serious and business related than it is emotional and touchy-feely on such a special day as Mother's Day. This is not the best day for showing or receiving maternal emotions. Even more, today's Moon in Capricorn is squaring Venus in Aries, which could easily cause mother's to feel unLoved and/or rejected. As Capricorn is more serious and business related, this could easily cause some individuals to act out as a result of feeling rejected, unLoved or uncomfortable in what is supposed to be a Loving atmosphere. What should be a sentimental day is pretty much anything but sentimental. There may even be reminders of childhood experiences that many would just as soon forget. Do your best to make the most of this day and save the rehash of bad childhood memories for another day.
