MOON SQUARE SUN
This aspect is a seat of inner tensions. The tension of the square gives us motivation. Squares are dynamic aspects that give us the drive to succeed. What begins as an inner problem is overcome or accepted, and then becomes a door to understanding.
It is important to understand that the Moon rules the home and the family. It also rules the emotions, feelings, sensitivities and moods, while the Sun rules the identity, ego, individuality, power and pride.
Remember from the first paragraph, a square is the seat of 'inner tension' so we need to first recognize that there is a conflict there. The Sun rules our nature and the Moon rules our emotions. So this aspect is squaring off (literally) with our nature and our emotions.
This tension likely began during childhood because the Sun is masculine and the Moon is feminine, which means there was an issue with the parents. There is something here that was inherited from the parents that is not pleasing or desirable. When this aspect shows up in the sky and affects the rest of us, then it brings up any issues that we might have with our parents.
This is what is called 'emotional insecurity'. Anything about our parents should be giving us security, not insecurity. This is just not the case with this aspect. The result you can expect issues with the opposite sex because you didn’t learn how to cope with the masculine and feminine energies from the beginning.
The challenge here is to trust your feelings and be assertive enough to go with what you feel. Remember, this aspect is about your nature and emotional needs. This aspect pushes you to choose your own way in life, following neither the mother nor the father. You must find your own identity.
