There is NOTHING more empowering, gratifying, and satisfying than being able to put up your own homemade, homegrown or home prepared food. There is a level of security that comes with canning your own food that is simply indescribable.
My girlfriend from high school 'Tina' came over on October 10, 2022 and taught me how to water bath can. We made 'cowboy candy', which is simply put 'candied jalapenos'. Over the course of several months, I was still a little too 'iffy' to go it alone. I went on YouTube and watched video-after-video-after-video.
Then I finally went out and bought my own canning paraphernalia in late-January 2023, which you can see below. After watching a zillion water bath canning videos, I finally decided to can my applesauce recipe, which is really Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond's applesauce recipe). After I finished, I thought, "Seriously, this cannot be all there is to it." But it was.
I made the applesauce and water bath canned it. If you research 'water bath canning applesauce' you will see a ton of a different ways to peel, core and cook your applesauce. I use an apple-peeler-corer (bottom left) rather than an apple strainer (bottom right). You will figure out how you wish to peel and core your apples. Peeling and coring is the hardest part, the water bath canning process could not be easier.

I took some pictures of some food I water bath canned and put the images below. P.S. - I can something every single day now. Every day! The pictures below are just a few of foods I canned. I'll post more in the next few days. (Time Stamp: 4/20/23)
