Slippery Elm is a tree that is native to eastern North America and thrives in the Eastern and Central portions of the US. Lives mainly in moist uplands. The inner bark has an important medical value and is an approved non prescription drug by the FDA.
Used in the treat of respiratory illnesses such as coughs, sore throat and colic. also used to treat diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome and hemorrhoids. Can also be used to treat bladder and urinary tract infections. When applied to the skin, slippery elm can be used for wounds, burns, cold sores, boils, toothaches and ulcers.
Safe when ingested. Mild allergies when applied to the skin can occur.
