Herbs are preparations extracted from a plant or part of a
plant which have medicinal effects. These plant extracts
or herbs can be used in several forms either internally or
externally. The internal forms include pills (tablets or
capsules), tea, glycerite (herbs extracted into glycerin),
syrup, tincture, or vinegar. The healing power of herbs
are also useful as external preparations in the form of
cleansers, toners, salves, aromatic waters, bath and body
oil, and compresses.
Due to the effectiveness of herbs, they should not be
taken without guidance. The common assumption that herbs
act slowly and are mild is not necessarily true. Extensive
scientific documentation now exists and supports their use
for many health conditions.
As botanist Walter Lewis, Ph.D., and microbiologist Memory
Elvin-Lewis, Ph.D., put it in their book Medical Botany:
"Nature is still mankind's greatest chemist, and many
compounds that remain undiscovered in plants are beyond
the imagination of even our best scientists."
Herbology is used to
support our entire body, mind, and spirit approach to
make our lives more complete.
Conditions Benefited by Herbology:Allergies, Arthritis, Common cold, Flu, Hypertension, Menstrual cramps, Minor aches and pains, Skin rashes, Stomach upset.
