For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading below begs the question, "How do I respond to Your Voice of Authority?" I admit, there are times when I have selective hearing and only hear what I want to hear or I will twist Your Word into something that will fit the answer I want to hear. I KNOW when I do this and yet I continue. When I have selective submission to Your Word, only following and obeying what is pleasing to me, is wrong. My response to Your Voice of Authority needs to be full-time trust and obedience, not part-time pick and choose. When Jesus spoke, He was not crowding Your Word by quoting others who were in a position of authority. And He did not need His message from You supported by other statements. He only spoke of Your Word.
Thank You for this awakening in my spirit and reminding me that You have everything under Divine Perfection and Control and that when I follow Your lead I will always be in the right place at the right time.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 4:31-37
31 Jesus then went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee. He taught them on the sabbath,
32 and they were astonished at His teaching because He spoke with Authority.
33 In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice,
34 "Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"
35 Jesus rebuked him and said, "Be quiet! Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm.
36 They were all amazed and said to one another, "What is there about His word? For with Authority and Power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."
37 And news of Him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.
