It's so easy to point to others and judge them and what they do with power ... but what about you? How do you handle power? What if you had more power? What if you won the lottery, how would you handle that power? What if you received or earned a promotion, how would you handle that power? What about the power you have now, are you afraid of losing it? Do you feel the need to remind 'everyone' that you are in charge, or that you are 'the boss'? Is that necessary? Are you on a 'power trip'? Perhaps today's music video and little prayer will help you sift through your power and channel it appropriately.
When faced with the possibility of losing any power or control, how do I act and react?

Father, today's reading reminded me of how I act and react when in a position of power. The chief priests and the Pharisees, above all else, where afraid of losing their power. They were afraid that if they allowed Jesus to continue to perform His signs, then the Romans would come and take away what little power and privilege they still had. Plus, in dramatic irony, Caiaphas (the high priest) had unknowingly phophesized than Jesus would die for the nation, so they figured this was another reason to put Jesus in His place. It was Jewish belief that when the high priest spoke, that God was speaking through the high priest, so then from then on, they plotted to kill Jesus.
This has called my attention to how I act and react when I am in a position of power, control or have the upper hand. Do I scheme, plot or plan a way to hold on to that power? When faced with the possibility of losing that power, what would I do? Thank You Father for this awareness and showing me what it looks like through the example of this reading below, how the Love of power can have a power over me and end up leaving me with nothing, including You. I choose You!
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John
John 11:45-56
45 Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what He did, believed in Him;
46 but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.
47 So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council, and said, "What are we to do? For this man performs many signs.
48 If we let Him go on thus, every one will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our holy place and our nation."
49 But one of them, Ca'iaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all;
50 you do not understand that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation should not perish."
51 He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophezied that Jesus should die for the nation,
52 and not for the nation only, but to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.
53 So from that day on they took counsel how to put Him to death.
54 Jesus therefore no longer went about openly among the Jews, but went from there to the country near the wilderness, to a town called E'phraim; and there He stayed with the disciples.
55 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.
56 They were looking for Jesus and saying to one another as they stood in the temple, "What do you think? That He will not come to the feast?"
