Father, today's teaching below reminds me of my influence on others and how it will take courage and commitment to hold my ground when others criticize my motives. Jesus never backed down on His commitment to influence individuals or the masses. He never backed down even when others criticized Him to His face or behind His back. Jesus was bold enough to make the point that hanging out with Good people does not make one Good. Just as hanging out with the bad people does not make one bad. His approach was to hang out with the bad people to influence them to become Good. He even showed the Goodness that was in the so called "bad people". Jesus was not afraid of the bad people rubbing off on Him; His intention was to rub off on them. Jesus knew His audience and He knew exactly what He was doing. I Love that about Him!!! He went into their homes and sat down to eat with them and talked directly to them. He was deliberate and on purpose. He is, was, and always will be 'The Ultimate Teacher' and is the Perfect Example for me when I am teaching others what I know.
Thank You for this awareness today Father. I now know that it is not so important for me to defend my Good works as much as it is to continue on with them no matter what anyone thinks. What matters to me, is what You think of me. Thank You!
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 5:27-32
27 After this He went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the customs post. He said to him, "Follow me."
28 And leaving everything behind, he got up and followed Him.
29 Then Levi gave a great banquet for Him in his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were at table with them.
30 The Pharisees and their scribes complained to His disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?"
31 Jesus said to them in reply, "Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do.
32 I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners."
