What am I sowing that I hope will take root and begin germinating?
"You reap what you sow."
I sow, so I grow.
For a more enriching experience, go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading is a strong reminder that nothing can grow unless it is planted. Further, a seed has no power to change itself unless it takes root. And so it goes with me. You plant a seed, a thought, an idea, a wonder in my heart, and unless I accept the mission from You and take action, the seed still remains a seed. While I may be listening, taking action is a whole other story. From this day forward, I will deliberately increase my awareness and pay closer attention to You. I will be more open and receptive of Your Word so that Your Will takes root within me and my wonderful transformation occurs with my action upon it. I want to receive the same powerful transformation of the mustard seed that grows and ends up as the largest garden plant attracting many birds to nest in its branches. Mustard seeds begin germinating in three days, so from this day Father, my awareness is purposefully increased and in three days I will be germinating as well. Thank You for opening my eyes.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark
26 And He said, "The Kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed upon the ground,
27 and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he knows not how.
28 The earth produces of itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
29 But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come."
30 And He said, "With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it?
31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth;
32 yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade."
33 With many such parables He spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it;
34 He did not speak to them without a parable, but privately to His own disciples He explained everything.
