Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.
Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.

Light exposure plays a huge roll in a healthy sleep-wake cycle. You MUST get adequate exposure to Sun light. The elderly have a real problem with this. Inadequate exposure to Sun can make you lazy and even depressed. We all know what cloudy gray days feel like. Even if it just involves opening the curtains or rolling up the blinds, you must give your body what it needs. Your sleep-wake cycle requires Good hygiene just as the rest of your body does. If you go outside, slap on moisturizer that has a healthy dose of SPF.
Pets and children have a wonderful way of keeping us active. My daughter was practically raised in a park as we spent many hours every week, eating, walking and playing in parks, especially right after school. If a park is out of the question for you today, set up goals and play soccer in the yard. I don't have pets or children in the house but my fiance' and I will set up goals in the yard and play soccer. It's an wonderful sweat. If you live alone, go buy a soccer ball and kick it around the yard for a half hour. Your butt will thank you in the morning.
Go to the dollar store and get a squeegee so you can wipe down the shower after each use. Keep the squeegee in the shower. With a little habitual training, everyone in house can learn to squeegee before they get out of the shower. This will prevent moisture-fueled molds from taking up residence in your shower. It also removes soap scum and dirt and cuts down on the time cleaning the shower, especially when mold begins to grow.
I rarely ever use my clothes dryer, except for towels and socks. During cold weather everything is hung on a hanger and dries in the bathroom on the shower curtain rod. If the heat is on then I close the bathroom door. During the warm weather everything is hung on a clothes line outside. I do this for 3 reasons. 1. I'm frugal. 2. I'm a recycler and this cuts down on my carbon footprint. 3. The clothes are so much fresher and crisper when dried on their own. Save money on the utility bill or laundromat and save some time hanging up or folding clothes and dry your clothes on the shower curtain rod.
Goals are great. That's real nice but what do you intend to do about them? Whatever you do folks, if you are going to set a goal, then set your intentions to go with them. If you have a goal to be a better housekeeper, then the intention would be to clean the house everyday or clean up after yourself. It's a no-brainer. Set some weekly goals today and then set your intentions. Goals are nothing but day-dreaming and lip service unless you actually do something about them.
