A person who is habitually late cannot call it an accident, a fluke or a mistake. A person habitually late is doing it on purpose because they have made it a habit. Otherwise, sooner or later the law of averages would put them on time. This is not only a lack of respect for one's own time, it is a lack of respect for others time. Always running behind, will always put you behind.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.

Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.

Sometimes it is necessary to review the rules of kindergarten to remember how to be nice to others and use Good manners. And sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the 'Activities of Daily Living' in order to take better care of ourselves and start living Life rightly.

Below you will see 7 simple activities to accomplish at some point during the day all under the motivation of the the daily mentation question below. You have 24 hours to get through this question along with the 7 activities. READY? SET? GO!

Activities of Daily Living - Mentation Question

Why do I try to make someone else's business, my business, when it's none of my business?

Activities of Daily Living - Hygiene and Grooming

When is the last time you washed your pillows, pillow cases, sheets and covers? If you do not have time today, write it down on your 'Weekend To-Do List'.

Activities of Daily Living - Physical Movement

Abdominal Bicycles is an effective horizontal exercise for the abs. Lay on your back with your knees bent, as if you were sitting in a chair and then pedaling in the air (do 10 - 30 reps). You can do these during those commercials you don't want to watch, while you are laying on the couch.

Activities of Daily Living - Housework and Cleaning

To get the smell out of your plasticware, use 4 Tbsp. of baking soda in 1 qt. of warm water. Pour into the container and soak for 30 minutes. If you don't have any baking soda, wad up some newspaper and put it in the bowl. The newspaper will absorb the smell in 1 or 2 days. Then wash and dry as usual.

Activities of Daily Living - Financial Management

If some, a few or one bill tends to get away from you every month, then pay toward the bill early. Your car loan lender, mortage, landlord or student loan lender will likely allow you to pay some on the bill before it is even due. This can help make the payment date less painful.

Activities of Daily Living - Work and Productivity

A person who is habitually late cannot call it an accident, a fluke or a mistake. A person habitually late is doing it on purpose because they have made it a habit. Otherwise, sooner or later the law of averages would put them on time. This is not only a lack of respect for one's own time, it is a lack of respect for others time. Always running behind, will always put you behind.

Activities of Daily Living - Food Preparation

Start working on your compost pile. This can put your food waste to really great use. When you eat healthier, you will likely have more food scraps than boxes, packages and cans. Read more about what a compost pile is here and how to start one.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

Choose two (2) of the 'Asparagine' foods below
and incorporate them into your diet today.
Get creative!

DESCRIPTION: Asparagine is a non-essential amino acid since it can be synthesized from aspartic acid. It is needed to help maintain a balance in the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord). Asparagine is important in the metabolism of toxic ammonia in the body. It is the first amino acid to be isolated from its natural source. Asparagine was first purified from asparagus juice in 1806.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Prevention from being too calm or overly nervous.

FOOD SOURCES: Asparagus
