Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.
Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.
Sometimes it is necessary to review the rules of kindergarten to remember how to be nice to others and use Good manners. And sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the 'Activities of Daily Living' in order to take better care of ourselves and start living Life rightly.
Below you will see 7 simple activities to accomplish at some point during the day all under the motivation of the the daily mentation question below. You have 24 hours to get through this question along with the 7 activities. READY? SET? GO!
What work, cause or endeavor am I engaged in
that I feel is motivated or inspired by Spirit?
It cannot be said enough, "Wash your hands!!!" 'Communicable diseases' means they are diseases that are caused by pathogens (microorganisms) that are passed from one human to another. These pathogens are bacterial, fungal, parasitic and viral. The methods of transmission are blood, breath, mucus, saliva and sexual contact. Give yourself a moment to visualize all the ways that 'hands' come into play with the methods of transmission.
Exercise is to food like work is to stuff. If you want more stuff then you have to work for it, just like if you want more food you have to workout for it. You can't just buy more stuff without working for it, just like you can't just eat more food without working out for it. An over abundance of one does not 'work' without the other. Commit to 30 minutes of exercise today even if it is marching in place or walking around the neighborhood.
If you consider housework part of your daily exercise routine then you would find yourself burning more calories and you would have a cleaner house. Housework is exercise and yes it does count in your exercise playbook. Devote 30 minutes today to quickly cleaning the house whether that is vacuuming, cleaning windows, doing dishes, mopping floors or dusting. Do it quickly, as much as you can, in 30 minutes. GO!
Whatever you do folks, do not be cheap! Cheap wastes money and time. Go without instead of being cheap. Not only is cheap embracing a Life of lack, it means you will likely have to repeat buy. What a waste of money in the 'repeat buy'! Instead decide to be frugal (economical), choosy and smart with your money. You used your time earning that money, SO BE CHOOSY with it.
Make out your 'To Do List'. Add and substract to it every single day. Having a sense of accomplishment breeds success. Accomplishment is one of the biggest stress reducers there is. If you are stressed, then channel the energy into your 'To Do List' and the stress bar will begin to drop. At the end of the day it will be like you are standing on a pile of to-do's that are fixed, settled and situated. Set out to become the most productive produce you know. I know I am! LOL!
Are you a cruncher, chewer, smoosher or sucker type of eater? Crunches like crunchie foods. Chewers like chewy foods. Smooshers like squishy, creamy food. Suckers like foods they can suck on. When you know what kind of eater you are, then it will make it easier to identify your food triggers. I'm a cruncher. When I see crunchy food I say to myself, "Stay away from light. Do not go into the light!" It's a funny little thing I say to myself to make me more aware of my weakness for crunchy food. It's like calling myself out.
