Dry brushing your skin before taking a shower helps to slough off dead skin cells and stimulates the lymphatic system. Before entering the shower, grab a natural-bristle brush and work from the feet up with even strokes in the direction of your heart for 3 to 5 minutes.
May 1st

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.

Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.

Sometimes it is necessary to review the rules of kindergarten to remember how to be nice to others and use Good manners. And sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the 'Activities of Daily Living' in order to take better care of ourselves and start living Life rightly.

Below you will see 7 simple activities to accomplish at some point during the day all under the motivation of the the daily mentation question below. You have 24 hours to get through this question along with the 7 activities. READY? SET? GO!

Activities of Daily Living - Mentation Question

When do I experience 'familiar contempt'?

Activities of Daily Living - Hygiene and Grooming

Dry brushing your skin before taking a shower helps to slough off dead skin cells and stimulates the lymphatic system. Before entering the shower, grab a natural-bristle brush and work from the feet up with even strokes in the direction of your heart for 3 to 5 minutes.

Activities of Daily Living - Physical Movement

Butterfly Abs: Lie on back and place soles of feet together; relax knees out to the side. Place hands behind head, with elbows out. Tightening abs, lift chest and shoulders up, then release back down. Do 10 to 15 reps. Repeat 3 times.

Activities of Daily Living - Housework and Cleaning

When we have a lot of people over, I fill a large plastic bin full of sudsy water. It does not have to be hot or sudsy, it just needs to be full of water. Everyone scrapes off their own plate into a bowl of scraps and then they put their plate and utensils into the bin and then no one has to do the dishes or feel guilty about not doing the dishes while the fun is still on.

Activities of Daily Living - Financial Management

Have a 'spend nothing day' once a week or on four designated days out of the month, which can vary from month to month. If you have a bill due on 'spend nothing day' then you better pay that bill a day or two beforehand because 'spend nothing day' means spend nothing.

Activities of Daily Living - Work and Productivity

Make your Life easier by automating or designating that which would make your Life easier. My personal motto is, "Easily and effortlessly NOW!" and I guarantee you that is the space from which I operate. Doing things the hard way or longer way makes absolutely no sense to me.

Activities of Daily Living - Food Preparation

If you were to brown bag your lunch for five days you will have already begun building a new habit. If it is difficult for you to take time for breakfast, then brown bag your breakfast as well or grab a banana and protein bar for breakfast, which you can eat on the way to work.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
