Activities of Daily Living

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.

Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.

Sometimes it is necessary to review the rules of kindergarten to remember how to be nice to others and use Good manners. And sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the 'Activities of Daily Living' in order to take better care of ourselves and start living Life rightly.

Below you will see 7 simple activities to accomplish at some point during the day all under the motivation of the the daily mentation question below. You have 24 hours to get through this question along with the 7 activities. READY? SET? GO!

The right way to clean your eyes is to use a warm (not hot) washcloth and wipe under the eye from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner of the eye. If your eyelashes are stuck together from drainage material, just lay a warm washcloth over your eyes until the material loosens and you can wipe it away from inner to outer.

Activities of Daily Living - Physical Activity

Physically moving your body is not only important for muscle and bone strength, it is important for your mental and digestive strength as well. The more you exercise, there more likely you are to poop regularly. Plus, there is nothing worse than feeling weak and nothing better than feeling strong.

Activities of Daily Living - Housework and Cleaning

Using liquid soap at all of your sinks and in the showers makes it easier to keep the areas clean rather than using bar soap. Everyone's budget is different and it will not cost you anymore money. If you are really tight on money, then get your liquid soap at the dollar store.

Activities of Daily Living - Financial Management

Usually when one is really interested in something, they will study it and see how it works. Money is no different. If you want to have more money, then study it. Start researching how money started and get a better appreciation how to use it. The more you know about money, the more likely you will be a Good steward of it and call more of it to you.

Makes notes of your ideas, inventions and to-do's. Most people have smartphones these days and these phones have a 'Notes' app that lets you speak into it and record your thoughts. I use it 'all the time' because as a Gemini and the master communicator, scribe and messenger of the zodiac, making mental notes is crucial to my juggling success. And as a Gemini, I think making notes will help you too.

Activities of Daily Living - Food Preparation

We eat about 2 salads every single day. A small one at lunch and a small one at dinner. I use a stainless steel container with a lid to keep my big salad fresh for days. You can also use jars (like canning jars) to put your salad in to take with you to work. Salad in a jar stays fresh too. Just keep your salad dressing separate. Look up salad jars online and you will see how easy it is.

DESCRIPTION: Bilberry contains compounds known as anthocyanosides, which are very potent antioxidants. It is also rich in bioflavonoids, manganese, phosphorus, iron and zinc. It contains many important phytochemicals including arbutin, which may benefit the urinary system. There is some research that indicates it can regenerate visual purple, which is necessary for healthy night vision because it strengthens the capillaries. The capillaries are small veins that surround the eyes, therefore the circulation around the eyes is improved. The anthocyanosides may also strengthen the capillaries in the retina, which may help slow macular degeneration.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Helps improve night vision, cataracts; recovery from strokes, ulcers; treating angina, diarrhea, glaucoma, menstrual cramps, urinary function and varicose veins. It is also helpful for Raynaud's Disease.
