The job of 'chronic' inflammation is to cause tissue damage or even to the kill tissue.  This is why you must address inflammation at the onset.  Inflammation is the bodies 'natural response' to heal, not kill.  As with everything, too much of a Good thing, <i>isn't.</i>  After exercise, one tool for accelerated recovery is to use cold water therapy after your workout to help clear inflammatory biological (cellular) markers.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.

Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.

Sometimes it is necessary to review the rules of kindergarten to remember how to be nice to others and use Good manners. And sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the 'Activities of Daily Living' in order to take better care of ourselves and start living Life rightly.

Below you will see 7 simple activities to accomplish at some point during the day all under the motivation of the the daily mentation question below. You have 24 hours to get through this question along with the 7 activities. READY? SET? GO!

Activities of Daily Living - Hygiene and Grooming

Did you know that holding your pee (urine) creates a breeding ground for bacteria? Talk about 'piss'ed! When the body feels the urge, the body wants to purge. Promise your body that you will purge when you feel the urge.

Since you are a contralateral being, cross crawl exercises help to repattern the brain. It's basic neurology! For 15 minutes today, either march in place or march around the house. You can even march while lying in bed. The right leg and left arm raise together and then the left leg and right arm raise together. 15 minutes, Go!

A cluttered and messy bedroom speaks volumes. There is something very calming about slipping into a neatly made and peaceful feeling bed. Make your bed. It takes minutes and yes, you do have time.

Saving money is not about being cheap. It's about saving money. Find 2 ways to save money in your overall monthly expenses. The money will appear. You just have to identify it and then save it. Literally!

Time management means managing your time in order to be the most productive. One of the biggest issues in time management is the travel time that it takes to get from one place to another. Wherever you go today, calculate your travel time and then add 5 minutes.

Ziploc ®  baggies are the perfect snack bags and they are easy to grab and go when they are prepared and stacked in the refrigerator or cupboard ahead of time. If you can pull this off today, then do it. If not, then your activity will be to stop and purchase the baggies along with the snacks (fruits, vegi's, trail mix, etc.,) needed to prepare and pack for tomorrow.


Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

Choose two (2) of the 'Potassium' foods below
and incorporate them into your diet today.

Potassium is a mineral and is important to support the nervous system and helps with natural heart rhythm. It helps to stabilize blood pressure and assists in electrochemical transmissons. It assists other nutrients into the cells.

Avocados, dried apricots, baked potatoes, bananas, beans, beat greens, brewer's yeast, brown rice, carrot juice, clams, blackstrap molasses, cantaloupe, dairy products, dates, dried prunes, figs, fish, fruit, garlic, legumes, milk, nuts, orange juice, poultry, prunes, soybeans, spinach, sweet potatoes, tomato sauces, wheat brain, winter squash, yams, yogurt.

Boiling will deplete a food source of potassium. To preserve potassium, eat raw fruits and vegetables or eat them lightly steam or roasted.
