For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading serves as a gentle reminder that sometimes I do need to be reminded that, no means no, as I keep pushing that envelope and reaching for that hot stove. Sometimes I have a hard head and I do need to be chastised by You out of tough Love. Sometimes I do need to be kicked out of the nest (again) so that I can relearn how to fly on my own. Sometimes I press my luck and I keep trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Sometimes I do nearly everything that isn't working for me and I don't know why. Sometimes I drive my Life into a ditch and lose sight of my destination. It's hard for me to picture Jesus getting angry, but when I think of being a parent and how sometimes a bit of tough Love is in order for the child's own Good, I get it. I can see how You, my Father and my Ultimate Parent, might need to chastise me when I start to run off the rails once again. This reminds me of the Scripture, "God disciplines us for our Good, that we may share in His Holiness" (Hebrews 12:10)
Thank You for bringing this reading to my awareness today, as a relearn the power in my wings and my intended mission as purposed by You. Thank You for reeling me back in.
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 19:45-48
45 And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who sold,
46 saying to them, "It is written, `My house shall be a house of prayer'; but you have made it a den of robbers."
47 And He was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people sought to destroy Him;
48 but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people hung upon His words.
