MAN-MADE MAPS VS.
GOD-MADE MAPS

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

FIRST, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIM IN CLEVELAND, OHIO!

Monday my daughter Karmen called and asked if I could come over and stay for a couple of days and watch my grandson "Big Tree" because Larry (her husband) needed to go out of town on business. I said, "Absolutely!" Karmen is in Nursing School and also works as a CNA (Certified Nurse's Assistant). As it is in any other city of the world, here in St. Louis we receive an extended weather forecast too from a meterologist. When we read the weather forecast online, in the paper or watch it on television, don't we really want to know what will be going on so that we can be better prepared for what is to come? Our meterologist's here in St. Louis have been forecasting a snow storm for several days and today was the day it was going to hit. And it did!

Since Larry had traveled to Kentucky by car, he was coming home a day early and was due to arrive home just before the snow was in full throttle storm. Karmen and I in turn adjusted our time to make certain I would be home before the snow storm hit as well. Thank God for meterologist's that they are trained to read weather patterns and forecast the outcome in order to make all of our lives a bit easier. I feel the same way about maps. Thank God for maps and compasses that help us get to the place that we desire to be. Can you imagine how lost we would all be without maps? Even when you get a trip-tik (road map) from AAA they will even have all of the construction areas outlined so that you can avoid traffic jams or long delays. They will even re-route you with a detour. Isn't that nice of them? Maps are fascinating and at a young age we are all taught how to read these man-made maps beginning with the globe in grade school.

Maps - no matter if they are weather, road or astrological,
they help us get to the place that we desire to be.
Dr. Loretta Standley~

So here's my question mark. What's the big deal with astrology, which is a God-made map that He created personally for each one of us called a Natal Chart. He created this map, I didn't! I just know how to read it. The Natal Chart is your real birth certificate. Some people, such as myself have been gifted with the ability to read the map and teach others how to use 'the map' to get to the place that He laid out for us. So what's the problem? Why is it okay to read a man-made road map or an atlas to get to another city or state? Why is it okay to follow a metereologist's forecast, (the keyword here being 'forecast' which also means 'to predict,') which is also man-made. And yet, something that God created for us personally is off limits to some people. I'm a logical person folks and I just don't understand that logic and I probably never will. Oh and let's get real picky about it and wonder why is it okay for an obstetrician to 'predict' the birth of a baby based on a woman's last menses. Need I go further. Does this mean mapping companies, obstetricians and meterologists are all soothsayers? Yeah, see how ridiculous it sounds. I have a million and one examples of how we all 'predict' all day long based on knowledge, experience and patterns. Should I now go into clocks and watches that we use to 'predict' what time we will get to work if we leave at a certain time. I could go on and on. Oh what the heck, why learn anything and be prepared ahead of time for what Life might throw at us? If you are wondering if I have received any rotten e-mails regarding astrology, the answer is no. I was just reminded of my position once the snow started falling and that got me going. (winky wink) Further, if you ever wondered how I can justify being a Christian and practicing astrology . . . I wrote it all out here!

I have started updating the Spiritual Progression Path again. I apologize for the loss of organization but I'm back on track now.

and practice being you."

'USE' YOUR HOROSCOPE

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

So my brother Sam (Gemini) comes over a little while ago and gives me a brand spankin' NEW! six person raft. Out of the clear blue he has this raft for me because he knows I'm an outdoor junkie. I just Love getting outdoors-dirty. This is an awesome raft complete with oars and a place for a trolling motor. I'm just jazzed out of my mind about this raft. He opens the box and starts pulling out all the pieces (the pump, the oars, the raft) and spreads the raft all over the floor and then says, "Well, there it is. I gotta go, see ya' later." We just laughed because he was going back to work and left me to put this heavy duty, heavy weighted, sooper-dooper raft back in the box exactly the way it came out. Well we thought it was funny because ya' see folks, both Sam and I are the type of people who would put Christmas lights back in the box exactly they way they came out. He left as quickly as he showed up. Who was that masked man? This has nothing to do with the Daily Message today, I just wanted to share how generous, goofey and Gemini he is and in just a few short months he will become a grandpa for the first time. And he's the only person I know who's head (the circumference) is bigger than mine. Hmmmmm . . Gemini does rule the brain. (winky wink)

Folks, when you read your daily horoscope, use that information to your advantage. For instance, when the Moon is in Scorpio, as it is today, you will always be able to see me ram-jam on this website. Or I might write about getting organized or how a sloppy and slovenly work ethic drives me up a wall. This is because 'today' in the Gemini Daily Horoscope the Scorpio Moon is in Gemini's 6th house of daily routine, work ethic, health, hygiene and organization. So when the Scorpio Moon moves through that house, I take advantage of that extra boost of energy. After all, Scorpio is naturally ruled by Pluto which is the higher octave of Mars (aggression). Now imagine how powerful and aggressive that Scorpio Moon is especially when channeled properly. If channeled improperly I might choose to become cranky over everyone else's disorganization thereby becoming disorganized myself by not focusing on my own stuff.

Interesting enough the personal trainer I met on Sunday at the small gathering e-mailed me today to follow-up on her becoming my trainer. Remember this 6th house also rules daily regimen, health, fitness and hygiene, so of course during the Scorpio Moon she would most likely contact me when my "health and fitness house" is the focus. Folks, when it is the Truth it shows up everywhere. Oh wow . . and look! Scorpio is a water sign and a huge raft shows up today in what would be my idea of 'fitness' by enjoying and participating in the great outdoors.

When you read your daily horoscope, don't just read it and go about your business. Work it baby work it! You might notice that I have already re-organized the daily horoscope page and prepared for February. I'm ahead by five days already on the set-up. Well this is the influence of the Scorpio Moon on me in my 'daily regimen' which is writing daily horoscopes. The last thing I wanted to do last night was sleep. Actually I never want to sleep and I usually just keep going until I just tip over. I also worked fast and furious on that other HUGE project that I have going on. Even though the Moon is Void of Course in Scorpio today, I responded to over 600 e-mails this morning and I'm finally caught up. What I'm trying to say is that I play UP the Moon when it rolls through a particular house. So tomorrow the Moon will be in Scorpio for a third straight day only the Moon will be void of course in Scorpio all day until it reaches Sagittarius at 5:08 PM EST. Even through the void moon we can all still channel our energy positively, especially when we are aware of the void moon ahead of time. If you are aware, then the void of course moon shouldn't even phase you.

In closing, I do follow world/current affairs and political events quite closely. For your FYI, John Edwards bows out of the presidential race today. Hmmmmm . . did you know his Sun is in his 12th house of the hidden realm, just like mine? It's people like John Edwards and myself who shine from behind the scenes . . not out in front. You don't need to see me in person and you really don't need to see him in person. His presidential bid was never going to materialize. And Rudy Giuliani needs to write books, do his speaking engagements and smile. (winky wink)

JANUARY GENTLE REMINDERS

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

It's that time again for a few gentle reminders since there are so many new visitors coming to the site since last month. This website is becoming more popular every day [in record numbers] and it is now ranked 126,907 in the entire world out of between 75-80 million 'active' domain names world-wide. It's just crazy cool.

1) Over the next 22 days (until February 18) while Mercury is Retrograde, not everything is going to be Mercury Retrogrades fault because there are plenty of other planetary influences doing their thing. Check your weekly horoscope to see all the action. It looks like I finally figured out a way to keep up on those weekly horoscopes huh? Now see, if you just be patient with me while I figure out how to handle this whale of a site, then I'll figure out a way that makes it fun for me and enlightening for you. Remember - I gotta have fun or I won't play. (winky wink)

2) All TYS e-Course students who ordered the TYS e-Course Session 1 after November 30th, 2007 - please e-mail me at tys-ecourse@drstandley.com for your updated version. It will be up to you to e-mail me in order to get your updated Session 1 version. This new version is actually 3 pages longer so if I were you, I'd e-mail me to get it.

3) Also with the TYS e-Course, anyone who ordered this should have had a conversation with me before they began the program. I write this into the e-mail when I send you the first session. Folks, I won't chase you down because this is something you need to do on your own. I'm the easiest person on the planet to contact, so let's go!

4) Those of you who have ordered a Transits and Progressions Report should have also had a conversation with me when I emailed the report to you. Folks, I happen to be a bit Type-A (North Node Virgo) and I enjoy having a conversation with you to help you learn how to use this report to your advantage. I want you to understand it. Again, I will not chase you down for this conversation, as it is up to you to call. I write that into your email. A Transits and Progressions Report is actually your personal horoscope for nearly every single hour during the time period you ordered. This report is tailored to your birth date whereas the daily horoscopes I write are written for an entire population of people. Your horoscope does not get more exact than it does when you read your Transits and Progressions Report.

5) I have been working on something BIG FOLKS -- BIG! -- actually HUGE! So during Mercury Retrograde I will be wrapping it up with a pretty bow. If I get it complete before then I'll let you know. It's just more and more of you getting to know you better. It's always about you, isn't it. (winky wink)

R.S.V.P.
répondez, s'il vous plaît

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

R.S.V.P. stands for the French phrase, "répondez, s'il vous plaît," which means "please reply." Even if a person doesn't know what R.S.V.P. means as a phrase, they still know what it means in its shortened version. When someone sends you an invitation they are asking whether you will accept or decline the invitation. R.S.V.P. is pretty simple because all it requires is a response. Yes or No? When someone is trying to figure out how much food and beverage to serve then a response of "maybe" or "I'll try" just doesn't cut it. Not to mention, it's just common courtesy to respond. I mean, it's an INVITATION! Actually folks, I just find it incredibly rude and self-important when a person does not even respond to an invite. Again, a simple yes or no will do. The party will go on without you but the one who sent the invitation would still like to know if you can come because they would probably Love to have you.

I learned a lot about showing up to invites from my friend John (Julie's husband) who passed 2-1/2 years ago. When John was invited to something, by golly that man showed up. He always made an appearance no matter what. That man never passed up an invitation. He felt if someone was nice enough to include him, he was going, especially if it was some form of celebration. John had so many invitations that his opportunities in other areas of his Life were increased 10-fold simply because he had connected with so many people. I could sit and listen for hours as Julie re-lives all of his crazy adventures.

Yesterday I was at a small and I mean very small gathering that twelve people were invited to. Two of the twelve people said they could not make it, four of the twelve including myself said they would make it and the other six people never even bothered to respond. Further, one of four people who said they would make it, didn't show up. I was really blown away that six of the twelve did not even take the time to respond. Interestingly enough, we were given four ways to respond and the other six couldn't even do that. I just found it rude and self-involved because no one is that busy that they can't even respond to an R.S.V.P. Certainly something could have come up with the one who said he would come and didn't. That's understandable because Life happens, except for the fact that we saw this other person who responded to the R.S.V.P. walk right past us. That was weird.

The other thing is that the twelve of us invited don't really know each that well, and most of us didn't really know each other at all, so it was a perfect opportunity to connect. Besides there might have been an opportunity that would manifest down the road as a result of the connection. After all, something has to get the ball rolling. That's what John would have done, but then again John would have accepted the invitation simply on the basis that he was invited. One of the three us who did show up happened to be a personal trainer, which I lit up when I found that out and I became anxious to chat with her about training me a couple of times a week since I'm basically on my 'Rumpelstiltskin' for hours at a time. I'm an outdoors gal, so the winter months really cramp by style. Going into February I'm literally starving for motion beyond my bike, my gazelle and my morning yoga.

Folks, take the time to respond when you are invited to something. It would be hard for me to believe that an invitation is "just" an invitation and unimportant. Invitations are opportunities, you can accept them or decline them but at least respond to them. I've been accused of thinking too deep about things that are not supposed to be deep. In my world folks, it's all deep thinking or higher thinking because everything means something to me. So let's go even deeper and really stretch this thing. How many times have you sent out invitations and didn't receive the response you desired? Everyone enjoys a generous response from their invitations so this would be a perfect time to recognize the Universal Law of Reciprocity or (the Law of Attraction) in your Life. If you don't respond to others invitations, what kind of response do you receive from your invitations? Now I challenge you to stretch this invitation even further but now, apply it to God.

"Now get out there, go place yourself UP!
and practice being you."

THE TRANSFORMATION GAME

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

I woke up this morning with a strong desire to share with you my favorite game. It's called, "The Transformation Game by Innerlinks" and it's actually a board game. This Game can be found in many bookstores or metaphysical bookstores. I was first introduced to this Game by my friends Cindy (Aries) and Linda (Pisces). I will NEVER forget the first time I played this Game because it was the first time someone called me on my stuff in such a Loving, honest and spiritually motivated setting. It was nuttin' but Love among friends just trying to figure out their Life. "H" (Virgo) and I have played this Game a bajillion times.

"We're all just walking along, stumbling, tripping and slobbering all over
ourselves just trying to figure it all out.
Dr. Loretta Standley~"

The Game is played with at least two players but preferably four. It's just makes for more insight when you have more players. I prefer to play with people that I know well like "H" even though I have gotten upset with her when she nailed me with an insight or awareness. (winky wink "H") The Game begins with each player choosing an individual "Playing Focus," which you hold in your mind's eye and then choose a certain number of cards from each of the decks and put these cards into your "Personal Unconscious" envelope while you are still holding your "Playing Focus" in your mind's eye. You won't know what cards you chose until you draw on them from your "Personal Unconscious" envelope and then they will give you profound awareness and insight regarding your focus as you play The Game. And get this, you also have a "Personality Marker" to move around the board, which is a small crystal or you may choose to use your favorite stone or gem.

The Game has several decks of small cards with the Game board. The decks include the Life Angel Deck, Life Angels, Life Insights, Life Setbacks and Universal Feedback. There is also an Intuitive Flash Coin and tiny "pain" cards with a teardrop on them. It also has four Life Path scorecards that you will use (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual). First you are "born" onto the Physical Level. As you move along your Life Path on the game board, you will experience insights, awarenesses, setbacks and even some pain as you begin to fill up your Physical Level scorecard. Oh yeah folks, this is a powerful Game and very transforming if you are serious about it. Once you have mastered the Physical Level and completed your scorecard, then you can move on to the Emotional Level, then on to the Mental Level and then finally on to the Spiritual Level. So if you have health or weight issues as your "Playing Focus", then you will gain insight as to what this focus is all about. The same goes if bad relationships or financial problems is your "Playing Focus". What you hold for your "Playing Focus" will be reflected along your Life Path on the Game board.

As you move along through each level (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual) you are concurrently emptying cards from your "Personal Unconscious" envelope. These cards are the ones you choose from each deck that you put into this envelope when you held your "Playing Focus" at the start of the Game. Only when you reach the point where you are free of pain and have cleared all of the cards from your "Personal Unconscious" envelope and have completed all four Levels (scorecards) is your personal Game complete.

"Now get out there, go place yourself UP!
and practice being you."

WHEREVER YOU GO
THERE YOU ARE

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Folks, I'm having a very Virgo day! As you may have noticed when I write your Daily Horoscope I use the Moon as the reference point, as most astrologers would. This is because the Moon changes every 2 to 2-1/2 days and the Moon rules our emotions, which directly impacts our day to day horoscope. The Moon is why our mood changes so quickly; therefore, in a sense we are all somewhat moody. It's just that some lunar influences will have a more profound effect on what that mood looks like.

As you are growing in your astrological knowledge, I cannot stress how important it is for you to study yourself and your own Natal Chart before you attempt to decipher someone else's chart. Today barely began and there I was being all Virgo-ish with the Virgo Moon. As usual, since I know myself best, I will use myself as an example.

Keep in mind that my North Node is in Virgo, which makes me very Virgo. Remember, your North Node is where you cannot fail . . so work it baby, work it! Become your North Node. Woooo Hooooo! So when the Moon is in Virgo, I become more Virgo (even though I am really a Gemini). Interestingly enough, the first two people I hear from today were my friend Christine (Aquarius with a North Node Capricorn) and "H" aka Henrietta (Virgo with a North Node Aquarius).

Look how the three of us intertwined this morning. Christine (Aquarius) first sends me a mathematical e-mail this morning because we both dig on equations, numbers and mathematical mind trips. Christine has a degree in mathematics and I have a degree in physics. Then I talk to "H" on the phone and we have a hilarious conversation that involves me harping on an issue about a lightbulb out in the hallway. (It's an electrical issue). Folks, I could not stop whining about the burned out lightbulb to "H" (a Virgo) under the Virgo Moon. We laughed and laughed at how I just kept going on and on. I even said, "Oh my gosh, I can't shut up. I can't stop whining about it." Seriously folks, I just kept complaining and here I am even mentioning it in a Daily Message. That Virgo Moon can be a nag, nag, nag!

Virgo rules -- mathematics, mathematicians, healthcare, scientists
Capricorn rules -- mathematics, mathematicians, engineers, chiropractors
Aquarius rules -- the future, physics, invention, electricity, UFO's

After I hung up the phone with "H" I decided to watch a movie. I often watch movies while I am sitting here typing the Daily Message or writing horoscopes. It's a Gemini duality thing. It took me all of about three seconds before I realized that I had put in the VCR one of my favorite movies of all time, "Good Will Hunting," which stars Matthew Damon, Ben Affleck and Robin Williams. It's a story about a mathematical genius (Matthew Damon's character) who is trying to find his way in Life. I just Love that movie and the genius math is just out of this world. Anything out of this world is Aquarius (winky wink). And then we bring into the equation my Jupiter in Aquarius . . . my Saturn in Capricorn . . my Moon in Capricorn . . the fact that I am a Chiropractor . . I have three degrees in the sciences (physics, biology and human biology) . . I always say that I am a woman of science . . one of my other favorite movies is, "Back to the Future" . . I have an inventive mind and hope to win a Nobel Prize in Physics one day (no kidding). I don't know how I'll do that but its something I want to do. And then there is that dang lightbulb out in the hallway. It's driving me crazy and it looks like I'm going to have to just do it myself!

The book that I highly recommend for finding rulerships, which was recommended to me by my astrologer is, "The Rulership Book by Rex E. Bills". Study your charts even harder folks when the Moon rolls through your Sun Sign, your North Node or your Rising Sign and you will see yourself all over the place. Gosh we are so US! And remember -- "When it's the Truth, it shows up everywhere."

"Now get out there, go place yourself UP!
and practice being you."

IDEAS, CHANGES,
AND STILL MORE TO COME!

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Folks, I want you to know how grateful I am when you give me input or ideas regarding this website, or when you alert me to typo's, broken links or something you don't quite understand. Granted I have worked very hard building this website remaining true to my vision and spontaneously adjusting to change when change was asked of me. When one of you feed me a really great idea, then I jump all over it and take advantage of the momentum when the idea hits you.

There are so many ideas on this site that came from my visitors you would be amazed. The Angels, Saints and Novena's under the Guidance Button were all the idea of one visitor (Teri from MO). She e-mailed me with the idea and I instantly knew she was right. For 24 hours I ram-jammed on those three topics and basically had it all created within that 24 hours. Just last week another visitor (LeeAnn from NC) e-mailed me with the idea to make it "easy" to e-mail friends specific pages on my site. In less than 12 hours I had it up and ready to go. When it's a great idea folks, I can't not make it happen. It has to happen. I will work on your idea until it is UP and running. Even the idea to archive my Daily Messages was the idea of another visitor (a U.S. Marine stationed in Iraq). Then there is the Laboratory Tests button that grew tentacles from what I had originally created due to the idea of another visitor.

And then there are the horoscope ideas. Folks, your daily horoscopes page is set up exactly from the ideas that you send to me. When it's a great idea, I have to make it happen. You wanted a Void of Course Moon Calendar, so I created it in less than 24 hours. You wanted a calendar of Major Planetary Events for 2008, so I created it in less than 24 hours. Another visitor (Jennifer from Phoenix) asked to have the specific date of when the planets change under the monthly horoscope. So I went a step further and even posted the exact minute that the planet will move. I had that complete within the same hour of her e-mailing me. The weekly horoscope is finally developing into something pretty cool because of the idea of another visitor (Kenneth in the UK). There are quite a few other ideas that I like such as providing a horoscope based on the slowest moving planets Neptune, Uranus and Pluto. These three planets spend several years in a sign which is why they are called "generational" planets because they affect an entire generation of people at the same time. Pluto is preparing to move this week out of Sagittarius where it stayed for 13-1/2 years and into Capricorn from January 25, 2008 - March 23, 2023. For the record, Pluto is the planet of transformation. So yes, this was a great idea and I will be writing a horoscope for you involving these three incredibly slow moving generational planets. ooopsie daisy! I'd better getting moving pretty quick because Pluto makes its move on January 24th!

I realize there are sections on this site that have been a severe challenge for me and the Native American Animal Medicine section has been one of them. There are several issues that I have been dealing with in finishing this section. It's not as cut and dry as you may think. This particular section actually takes a lot of my time on a daily basis because it involves answering e-mails when a person see's a particular animal cross their path or listening to their animal stories over the phone . . it's just taking up a lot of time. I also get a fair share of dream interpretation questions simply because I really dig on dream interpretation. It's getting to be too much and something has to be settled in order to make this happen in a way that doesn't drive me crazy or worse . . take away my fun and enjoyment. Remember -- I HAVE TO HAVE FUN! I suppose it is necessary for me to say that when I create something on this site, it cannot end up costing me more time on a daily basis than I can handle. So how wonderful for me that God placed my personal Angel Facilitator, Gary Frese in my path to help me decipher what I am being called to do with this section. I know that I am suppose to do this . . I'm a North Node Virgo for Pete's Sake and Virgo rules "animals" . . . but I've had some confusion in how to do it all. Now I know what my Angels have been trying to get me to see all along. So if you can just be patient a little while longer, this whole Native American Animal Medicine riddle will finally be solved.

In the meantime, go ahead and keep feeding me your ideas. Believe me, if it's a really great idea then I won't be able to stop until that idea is UP for everyone to see, use and enjoy. By the way folks, this website is now ranked 128,690 out of 156 million domain names of which about 75 million of them are operating and fully functioning websites. For those of you who may not know, a domain name is the name of the website. So if you type in the domain name www.drstandley.com or www.mentator.com, they will both take you to this site. Or www.drstandleylive.com will take you to my other site. Not to mention I own about 25 different domain names that I have yet to do something with them so they are not functioning sites. They are just domain names waiting to be born into a full blown website. So you see, 128,690 out of approximately 75 million is a kickin' and rockin' site. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing, caring and daring to help make this site what it was . . what it is . . and what it will be in the near future.

WHAT ABOUT THE HOMELESS?

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Living in the heart of the City I probably come across more homeless people than the average person who may not live in the City. There are probably more homeless people in big cities or larger towns simply because there are more shelters or more places to take shelter. Not to mention, there are more people on average to give to them. When I first moved to the City it was a real challenge for me to decide who to give to and who not to give to. After all, those of us who are Christians were taught through scripture to give to anyone who asks. Well what does that mean?

I grew up with very young parents. By the time both my parents were 24 years old they already had five of their six children. Now for any couple who is 24 years old even in today's society that would have to be a stretch to feed and clothe that many children. I can't imagine what that must have 'felt' like because I only had one child. Even so, we were some of the best dressed kids because my mom made all of our clothing. Mom rarely used a pattern. Instead, mom would spread newspaper over the living room floor, then we would lay on it and she would cut out her own pattern in a design she had created in her mind. My mom was a fantabulous clothing designer. My sisters and I wore some pretty rockin' clothes in the 60's. Once we had grown out of our clothes my mom would pile the clothes into the trunk of the car and then pile all of us kids in the car and off we would go deep into the outskirts of town.

I remember pulling up to some houses in rural Missouri where there were no windows or curtains. Just an old, really small unpainted wooden house where a lot of people lived. I also remember as much as maybe 10 children running out of the house to see what we had. I don't ever remember seeing parents come out of the house . . just children. Somehow I knew, that my mom knew, there were parents in there. The children would each grab a trash bag stuffed with clothes and drag it across the yard and into the house. Not much was said by my mom or us kids. We just did it and never really talked about it. As the years passed and the first five kids had flown the nest, my parents always seemed to know someone who needed groceries. So then it became my mom and my little brother (Jerry, the sixth child) who delivered bags of groceries to those in need. They would just show up and then POOF, they would leave.

There's no doubt, I do see more homeless people living in the City than I did living outside of the City. That's just a fact but my question mark remains the same. What does give to anyone who asks mean? Does it mean do what I can, give them what I have or just give them anything? I have lived in the City for nearly six years now and I tend to run into the same homeless people over and over again, which has caused me to pose another question, "Am I helping these people or not because their Life is still the same?" It doesn't look like I'm helping the situation because they are in the same place they were six years ago. So do I get ticked off and stop giving?

As I was going into the grocery store the other day a homeless man asked me if I could help him. This is the same homeless man who the week before I had pedaled down a couple of blocks on my bicycle to buy him McDonalds. I told him that I would not give him money but I would buy him food. He gave me his order so I pedaled off and got him some food. I have absolutely no problem buying anyone who is hungry some food, a hat, a scarf or a pair of shoes. I can do that, especially when they are standing outside with nearly blue fingertips. So here I was confronted by the same man who didn't recognize me from a week earlier. He's also a permanent fixture outside of Walgreens and the grocery store. I heard a quick DLG (Download from God) that said, "Ask him what he needs." I thought well that's an interesting question. So I said, "What do you need?" He said, "I need bus fare." You see folks, the response, "I need bus fare" adds up when you get bus fare from several people and it buys a bottle of booze. So my thought process says if I give him money then that is not helping him and it will enable him to stay in the same place. I just won't contribute to someone's demise, at least not consciously. I said, "I won't give you money. If you want food, I will go in and buy you some food." He said, "No that's okay. Thank you and God bless."

You see folks, I did learn my lesson about giving money to the homeless when one day I gave a homeless man twenty dollars. I had just come out of the Rectory (where the priests live) after chatting it up with the Bishop and Monsignor regarding a fund-raiser at church. As many of you know, even during fund-raisers you still have to 'work' for the money. I was feeling pretty spiritually motivated at that point so handing over twenty dollars didn't phase me. The very next night I saw the same man in one of St. Louis' more popular night Life restaurants that hosts various small concerts. (The same place I was the other night with the girls.) The disguised homeless man from the day before was on a date! Now, do I stop giving to others because of this man or do I wisen up and figure out another way to give without being "taken" by a hard-luck story.

Folks, sometimes I don't know what to do as much as the next person. I realize now that give to anyone who asks could mean give in a way that might be helpful to them even if they don't know it. It could mean money, hope, a place to stay, food, awareness, clothing, time, direction or advice? Maybe I don't do enough, maybe I do too much . . I don't know because I'm doing my best to wrap my brain around all of this poor people stuff. So who do I help? Further, is what I'm doing helping or hurting? Do I just give from my heart and detach myself from the outcome and leave it to God to teach the lesson? I don't know! Surely there is a lesson in this for me too? I can guarantee you this, one thing I won't do is take the easy way out and throw money at them and then hope they will just disappear from my sight or fade away from the planet. If I take that approach . . then who am I?

THE POOR IN SPIRIT

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Christine, Peg and I had tried to see James McMurtry play in concert one other time when we were in Dallas visiting Peg (Libra) but we ended up missing the concert in Ft. Worth due to our own silliness and wacky timing. (Remember - Peg was transferred to Dallas for two years with her job.) Peg had several reasons to come back to St. Louis this past weekend and hearing James McMurtry sing, "Choctaw Bingo" was one of them. So this last Friday night was a girl's night out with Peg and her daughter Meg (Taurus), Christine and her daughter Rachel (Sagittarius) and myself. My daughter Karmen (Leo) was working.

The next day Christine (Aquarius) and I had planned to take my grandson Big Tree to see his first eagle siting but Karmen called after the concert and said that Big Tree had a fever and would not be able to go see the eagles. That was okay, there will be other opportunities. Seconds after I hung up the phone Peg said, "Go with me to Columbia to see David tomorrow." So Christine and I quickly switched gears and said, "Okay!" It was an easy decision; go see the eagles or go see David. Peg's 19 year old nephew David has been battling a very rare form of cancer and had just had a miraculous healing coupled with surgery. Columbia is two hours away from St. Louis and sits right smack dab in the middle of the state. So we made plans to drive to Columbia Saturday morning along with Peg's mom Sis (David's grandmother). If you visit the prayer list page on this site, you have probably noticed that I keep a recurring prayer request going for David and his family. We had a wonderful visit with David and Joan (his mom who is also Peg's sister). Further, it could not have been more crystal clear at that moment how important it is to visit the sick or the poor in spirit. While visiting with David and Joan the positive impact of the visit was obvious.

Later than evening back in St. Louis over mexican food and margarita's Christine and I were talking about her experience with visitors when she was battling cancer. Ya' see folks, Christine is a breast cancer survivor. Yes, she is the same friend whose house recently burned down back in September. Yes, she is the same woman who raised four children on her own. And yes, she is the same woman who runs a family owned steel manufacturing business. Yep! Same woman. I didn't know Christine at the time she was in the fight of her Life. I hadn't come along until years later and I've known Christine now 'almost' six years. Christine was telling me that when she was in the hospital and also at home sick with cancer that she didn't want visitors. She didn't want anyone to see her the way she was. She just wanted to be alone. Our dear friend John (Julie's husband) who passed 2-1/2 years ago from cancer said the same thing. Christine said as much as she didn't want anyone to come, she didn't want anyone to leave either. When no one was there she wondered where everyone was at. John was the same way. Contrary to either Christine or John's wishes, the family and friends didn't listen and just kept coming.

Visiting the sick or poor in spirit isn't just one of those seven practices of charity a.k.a. seven corporal works of mercy (that we Catholics call it) from The Beatitudes (first part of the Sermon on the Mount - Matthew 5:3-10). It's one of those things that is the right thing to do. We should be doing these things because we can't imagine doing anything else. What do we have going on that is more important that visiting the sick? Seriously! What could have been going on that would have been more important than visiting David and connecting with Joan? Christine and I released the eagles from our plan the minute Peg said, "Go with me to Columbia to see David." This was Peg's nephew! Do you have a nephew?

People often ask me about different rituals, practices and ways of Life that people do on the reservation where my family lives in Cherokee, North Carolina. I'm supposing what they might be asking for is something that might inspire their own Life that comes from a sacred practice and belief. I can tell you one thing they do above anything else, and I'm serious about this, is they visit and take care of their aged, the sick and the poor in spirit. They are devoted and thoughtful people who make the time to visit others in their time of need, hopelessness or fear. My grandmother (Stella), my mom (Mary), my Aunt Jackie (mom's sister) and my Aunt Joyce (mom's sister) are all the same way. Actually folks, now that I think about it, they don't have to make time for these visits because it's a way of Life. Visiting the sick or the elderly is part of their Life just as much as going to the store or going to work. It's just how they roll.

WHY DOESN'T GOD
JUST BAIL US OUT?

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Have you ever wondered why God just doesn't bail us out of our mess? Further, why doesn't he just wave His finger and wipe out the bad people and reward the Good people and be done with it? As I have shared with you many times before, the way I go about increasing my understanding about God is through the eyes of being His child and through the experience of being a parent to my own child and grandchild.

Many of us have heard the statement, "This hurts me more than it hurts you," from one or both of our parents. As a parent we might have said this same statement to our child or grandchild. I remember thinking after my dad saying that to me, "Yeah right! How does me NOT doing what I want to do hurt YOU!" Only until I grew older did I understand that some things are for my greater Good. Some things in Life are for my learning experience and there is a reason why I have to learn them.

There are a lot of people praying for resolutions to problems that they created. This really isn't a whole lot different than needing a resolution to a problem as a teenager. The problem can feel bigger than Life itself. Why doesn't God just bail us out? Now granted, there were times in my childhood when my parents bailed me out of a situation. They cut me some slack or they pulled some strings. They might have given in, been more lenient or I might have had to prove myself. There is also that probationary period of "we'll see how it goes". Arrrrgggghhhhhh, the ol' "we'll see how it goes" answer! As a kid, what the heck does "we'll see" mean? Now as an adult I know that "we'll see" is really dependent upon my actions and reactions. Did I learn? Will I behave? Can I be trusted to handle what I am asking for? Well, we'll see.

So what do you think would happen if your parents did your homework for you? How beneficial would that be to you? What if your parents took your drivers test for you and then sent you out on the open road? What if your child couldn't manage $10 and then they wanted you to give them $100 more? The nerve of that child! How likely do you think that would be? Don't we as adults do the same thing to God when we can't manage our money but we want Him to bless us with even more money? Is it right to just have our bills paid for us if we can't even manage $10 or stand to give up the cable TV that we can't afford? Were you ever in a relationship that your parents did not approve of and now in hindsight you can see why? How about a relationship that you prayed really hard over and now you wonder, "What was I thinking?" Folks, there is a reason why your parents could not bail you out, why you should not bail out your children and why God should not just bail you out if you won't learn your lesson. Yeah, some of us have to learn the hard way. Some people will choose to go to jail, some will choose to get their license revoked or suspended, some will choose to declare bankruptcy and some will choose to settle for an abusive or lacking in Love relationship before they will learn to choose differently. It's our lesson and we have to learn it.

As a parent there were times when I had to stand back and watch my daughter fall. It was for her own Good and bailing her out was not the answer. What Karmen didn't know is that I was always there ready to help her when she was ready, even if she didn't feel like I was there at all. She may have just thought I was being a mean mom but I was always right there. Until then, she had to learn. And yes, it hurt me more than it did her. Once Karmen "got it," which sometimes all it took was an admission of awareness, then I said, "Now, let me help you." It was her lesson and she needed to learn it. I think we all know through experience with family and friends that you cannot help someone who isn't ready to be helped. Being bailed out and being helped are two very different things.

Imagine the joy and pride your parents may have felt when you "got it" or when you did the right thing. Now remember the joy and pride that you have felt for your child or grandchild when they would "get it" or when they did the right thing? Aren't you more supportive when they inject themselves in the game of Life and play well? Remembering all of that . . . since you are a child of God and He is your Ultimate Parent, imagine how supportive He will be of you (financially, physically, spiritually and otherwise) when you finally just "get it."

"Now get out there, go place yourself UP!
and practice being you."

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Are you the same person?

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

I have a few pet peeves that are so strong that I can hardly abstain from saying something when I see it happen. I'm going to reserve sharing all of my pet peeves with you so that I don't gross you out or unnerve you where you would have otherwise been okay. And whatever you do, please don't send me e-mails about your pet peeves and get my list going even longer. (winky wink) I have enough pet peeves as it is and I don't need any help from the peanut gallery to make me go crazy. You guessed it folks, it's probably my picky and critical North Node Virgo so I'll just inject right here that Virgo rules health, hygiene, fitness and food. Instead of sharing all of my pet peeves, I'll just share the first one on my pet peeve list.

I can't stand bad table manners. This includes those who eat with their mouth open, talk with food in their mouth and those who shovel in large amounts of food at one time and swallow without chewing. Oh my gosh folks . . this pet peeve can put me in such a bad mood that I just get angry. TV talk show hosts will talk and eat with food in their mouth when they have cooking segments and I just can't take it. I find myself yelling at the TV, "WHY IS THAT OKAY?!?!" I had a date with a guy once who ate with his mouth open. It took about 5 seconds for me to say, "Oh no! Nope, nope, I can't do this. If you are going to eat with your mouth open then either I have to leave or I need to sit somewhere else because I can't sit here and look at that mess in your mouth." Yeah, I can be that bold and I suppose seemingly rude when it comes to eating with your mouth open. And don't get me started on those who smack and pop their gum. When it comes to popcorn I am a certified popcorn eater and I want my own bowl/bag. I just Love popcorn, even though my friend Margie (Virgo) and my brother Tom (Capricorn) would not approve since they are both dentists. Loud popcorn eaters or those who open their mouth like a hippopotamus and shove in as much as they can while it drops all over them and the floor drives me up a wall too. I'll admit, this pet peeve has certainly been a challenge to tame and the more I think about it, the crazier it makes me.

This brings me to an experience that I had the other day with myself. I had an extremely busy day and hadn't settled down long enough to eat. By the time everything calmed I was famished. I was so hungry that I felt like I was shriveling up into a ball. Even when I'm really hungry I can still maintain fairly Good nutritional self-control. I can usually wait to fix myself a really great meal rather than settle for fast food or something that will end up making me feel fat, miserable and lethargic. In order to satiate myself quickly, I opted for what I call my, "Lose 10 Pounds by Friday Salad." Since I was still conscious enough to know that I was going to over-eat, I figured that I may as well eat something that would be considered low points according to Weight Watchers and that I could fix in a flash before I started eating my fist.

I threw a huge mound of romaine lettuce on a plate, a 1/3 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, a monster sized diced tomato, a 1/4 cup of low-fat diced ham and then showered the salad with Good Seasons Fat-Free Italian dressing that I made from a packet. Ah yessssss . . barely any calories when I'm preparing to stuff myself. Under normal salad circumstances I would have taken the time to add a handful of baby spinach, sliced up a couple of radishes, added some green onion and I may have added some raw broccoli and cauliflower. Who needs vitamins with a salad like that? Well, there was no time to add anything else because I needed to eat immediately, if not sooner. Salads can actually turn out to have a high caloric and high fat content if you aren't careful about what you're adding to them.

I quickly crossed myself, said a faster than lightening prayer that probably had no sincerity whatsoever and started shoveling it in. I couldn't cram enough food in my mouth at one time. I was hunched over my plate like a hungry dog as pieces of lettuce were sticking out of my mouth and I was poking it back in with my finger. There I was, a perfect example of my own pet peeve. I was in full gluttony mode because let's face it, there are hungrier people on the planet that I was that very minute. Then I heard a fantastic DLG (Download from God). I heard, "So Loretta, if Mr. Wonderful were here right now, would you be eating like that?" With my cheeks bulging from being over-stuffed, I stopped chewing, wiped my mouth with a napkin and sat up straight. Then I finished chewing, fell back into my chair and responded, "No, I wouldn't do that. I want to be the same person behind closed doors that I am when I walk beyond my front door."

Folks, this Daily Message isn't about pet peeves even though interestingly enough it served its purpose to bring an awareness to my consciousness that I could share with you today. So my question mark is, "Are you the same person behind closed doors that you present to others beyond your front door?" Okay, so I was hungry and I was alone in my own private space where no one else could see me (except God) but folks, I don't want to be a different person when I'm alone than I would be if Mr. Wonderful were sitting here next to me or when God is watching me (which of course is all the time). I don't want to live my Life that way and as long as I can maintain some semblance of consciousness, then I will zap unattractive behaviors as they are happening. Not after they happened. People are always asking me, "How do I change?" If you are trying to figure out how to change an unattractive behavior, then pretend as though you are being watched and then notice how quickly you actually can change your behavior.

THE LONG LAMENT

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

This morning I woke up hearing the narrated ending to the song, "Nights in White Satin, by The Moody Blues, after which I heard the beginning of the song. In an interview Justin Hayward (the leader singer of The Moody Blues) talks about writing this song after he and his girlfriend had broken up. This was obviously a painful ending to a relationship, yet at the same time it was the beginning of his relationship with the woman he later fell in Love with and who he is married to this day. One 'snowy night' he was writing down his thoughts to exercise his mind, hence the name, "Nights in White Satin." When he speaks of the cold-hearted orb that rules the night, he is speaking of the Moon. Remember, it is the Moon that rules our emotions.

As I laid there listening to his emotional words coupled with orchestral power, I immediately acknowledged that this song was a 'lament'. I said outloud, "Father, why do you want me to hear lamenting?" In one part of the song Justin wails (laments), "Cause I Love you, Yes I Love you, ooooooooh how I Love youuuuuuu, Oh how I Love youuuuuuuuuu." Tears started streaming down my face as I laid there feeling the intensity of lament coming from Justin's voice and wondering what to do with this musical DLG (Download from God). What now? Through the lump in my throat I asked, "Father, is this musical DLG for me personally or is it for all of us?" When a DLG is for all us, then I will receive a clear feeling that I am suppose to write about it and we will each take from the message what is ours. Folks, if you are in a long lament grasping for some sort of meaning and understanding in the illusion of Life, let this message be your cue that it is probably time to let go and make room for something else or someone else. You decide which is right . . and which is an illusion.

la·ment (l-mnt)
v. la·ment·ed, la·ment·ing, la·ments
1. To express grief for or about; mourn: lament a death.
2. To regret deeply; deplore: He lamented his thoughtless acts.

1. To grieve audibly; wail.
2. To express sorrow or regret. Synonyms of grieve.

1. A feeling or an expression of grief; a lamentation.
2. A song or poem expressing deep grief or mourning.

NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN
[The narrated ending]

Breathe deep the gathering gloom
Watch lights fade from every room
Bedsitter people look back and lament
Another day's useless energy is spent

Impassioned lovers wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love and has none
New mother picks up and suckles her son
Senior citizens wish they were young

Cold hearted orb that rules the night
Removes the colours from our sight
Red is grey and yellow white
But we decide which is right

And which is an illusion

"Now get out there, go place yourself UP!
and practice being you."

NEED TO MOVE A MOUNTAIN?

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Pictured: On the left, Renee (Leo) and on the right is Me (Gemini) in a coffee shop in St. Louis this past Saturday, January 12, 2008. Now look at my gigantic head next to Renee's. Everytime I scoot my head up against someone else's head then my head turns into the Macy's Day Parade Balloon Head. (winky wink)

Renee came to town from San Diego this past weekend and it was really great to see her again. Our thing has always been breakfast together with a race to be the first to grab the pepper and this weekend was no different. As usual, Renee won by distracting this Gemini with a simple point over my shoulder and saying, "What's that?" Then she grabbed the pepper. grrrrrrrrrrr! Why do I keep falling for that?!?!

Renee was my Clinic Coordinator who I think had a team of elves hidden somewhere. She magically moved mountains and never broke a sweat. Now see folks, that's a Leo for ya'. If you need a mountain moved then call on a Leo because by golly they will move it. That's why I always say a Leo should always have a physically strong body because they are the physically strongest of the zodiac. I mean they are strong! They need their sleep and they should never ever allow their body to feel or get weak. EVER! Hmmmm . . Renee is a personal trainer and a hip-hop dancer. It's great watching her bust a move. That reminds me, another rockin' Leo (Leslie from Washington State) told me once, "Never ever dare a Leo! They will die before succumbing to a challenge. Foolish but fun." Geez Louise, she is so right! Even my astrologer who was a Leo (may God rest his soul) would have agreed with that statement.

I am the type of individual, worker and employer who enjoys accomplishment and productivity. I am motivated to work hard so that I can play even harder; therefore, I absolutely have to be productive with my day. Something cool and beneficial needs to occur and I make it my business to get it rollin' that way no matter what! Even if I'm laying on the ground in the park mentating and pulling DLGs (Downloads from God) out of the ethers, that is still being productive to me. I also work fast, so that means who I work with has to be self-motivated and ready to rumble five minutes ago because I want to finish early and go play. Renee and I would finish with the morning patients, paperwork, files, etc., and then we would run off and play until it was time to go back for the afternoon round of patients. I remember one time we drove downtown just to sit in all the party traffic before an afternoon St. Louis Cardinal baseball game. We just wanted to be engaged in the excitement of baseball season. And one time I dropped her off at the entrance to the zoo so that she could run in and get us both a slushy lemonade while I waited at the front. Admission to the zoo is free here in St. Louis and the slushy lemonade is amazing, so it had to be done. It didn't make sense not to do it.

Contrary to popular belief, Leo energy is really fun and playful energy because Leo naturally rules the 5th house of pleasurable activities, fun, intimacy, dating, romance, generosity, children and creativity. They also have a sunny disposition because they are ruled by the Sun. Okay so sometimes Leo's get a bit over-inflated and forget that they are behaving way too serious for being the ones who rule the 5th house of fun. They also have to remember not to be the bully on the playground by forcing people to follow them but instead have fun playing 'follow the leader' because they are the natural leader of the zodiac. Leo's are supposed to be Mr. and Miss Fun. I use to call a former Leo boyfriend Mr. Fun because he was so dang serious. Just calling him that would crack us both up! He had a great sense of humor but I had to keep reminding him that he ruled the 5th house of fun, not me! I told him, "You should be showing me how to have fun, not vice versa." I have some of the best, funny, Good-natured, silly and child-like Leo's around me -- my sister Cis is a Leo, my daughter Karmen is a Leo, Renee is a Leo and "H" aka Henrietta is a Virgo who is really a Leo. (winky wink)

Folks, look at your Natal Chart and see which house is ruled by Leo. My 2nd house of self-worth, personal money, personal possessions, morals and values is ruled by Leo so when it comes to anything that is ruled by Leo and this 2nd house, then I will act and react just like a Leo. This is probably the reason why I absolutely and unequivocally have to have fun when I create money in my Life. If it isn't fun, then I don't want to do it and I'll take my toys and go home. I'm all about the fun! It's also the reason why I refused to give up on this website in the thin starving days because I was moving a mountain, I was having fun and I would die trying before I ever gave up. Even though there aren't any planets in Leo this very minute, it's still a great time to identify what area of your Natal Chart is ruled by Leo and work with it to move your mountain. Your house of Leo will give you the strength you need to endure, persevere and have fun while you're doing what you do best. Folks, Leo energy simply does not back down. And if you aren't having any fun in the Leo house of your Natal Chart, then you aren't using your Leo energy wisely or productively.

YOUR NORTH NODE IS WHERE
YOU CANNOT FAIL

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

I just had another jam-packed fun filled weekend. Thank God I am a flighty Gemini because I can drop my North Node Virgo methodical routine act in a New York minute and run off to play without any apology, reason or excuse to a soul on the planet. My Gemini nature plans and schedules as little as possible in my Life because I Love the element of surprise, wonderment, change and flexibility. How can I do it all if I have everything planned out? To me, planning eliminates possibility and that just rubs me the wrong way. If the current (Pisces) or the wind (Gemini) changes, well then okay, I go that way. The change this weekend came with my South Node in Pisces coupled with the Moon moving through Pisces. Folks, I'll just float away with the current if I don't stay in my North Node Virgo (earth sign) and let it ground me. While there is nothing wrong with occasionally floating away with the current and ignoring my work (daily horoscopes yesterday), I have to be conscious of being a North Node Virgo so that when that happens, it only lasts one day on a low volume day and all is not lost. So big hairy deal . . I floated away for a day and now I'm back.

This weekend the Moon was in Pisces which collided with my South Node in Pisces. So instead of my North Node Virgo methodical routine act, I slid right into my South Node Pisces Houdini act and became the great escape artist. That's when I become a slippery little fish and slide out of your hand and out of sight. Do you know what it's like to hold on to a slippery fish? Yeah, picture that! I made a great escape and barely even turned on my computer until Sunday night. I didn't even write daily horoscopes yesterday because I completely slipped away with the current and my equilibrium was a bit off. That Moon in Pisces or any water sign for that matter is fantastic for my intuition but can you catch this slippery fish at that time? (winky wink) When the Moon is in Pisces my intuition tunes in higher and I become a "tun-ah-fish".

My point? Look at your North and South Node in your Natal Chart to see what sign they are in. When the Moon rolls through that sign I want you to be very conscious on how you respond to the energy and how you use it. The Pisces Moon definitely took me off my work game yesterday with daily horoscopes because I allowed it. I knew exactly what I chose not to do. It didn't have to be that way but I just told myself, "Phooey, I'm going to swim away and make an escape today." I was completely conscious that I was doing it. If the Pisces Moon was during the week I probably wouldn't have done that because on the weekend less people are online checking their daily horoscope. Actually Saturday is the slowest day and then Sunday is the second slowest day. It's still a kabillion people on the weekends coming to the site but even as much as I know about how to handle the North and South Node, I can still get sucked right into the drain (the South Node). Being your North Node takes practice folks and getting out of your South Node literally takes you ignoring it. By the ignoring it I mean that you are aware of it but you do not give it any attention. Remember your North Node is where your cup runneth over and your South Node is the bottomless pit (the drain). Interestingly enough, Sunday evening when the Moon went into Aries I became seriously aggressive and worked like a maniac until 4:30 AM this morning because Aries is in my 10th house of career. Wild huh? I even had the weekly horoscopes posted on time! Just remember -- no matter what. When you play up your North Node it will be impossible to fail.

WHAT DOES YOUR BELIEF GET YOU?

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

It's hard to believe that Christmas was nearly three weeks ago. It truly was one of the best Christmas' that I ever had AND I got everything on my list. (winky wink) I always spend Christmas Eve night at my daughter's and enjoy Christmas morning with my daughter, grandson and son-in-law. I got a new (sharp as a samari sword) 'camp knife' in a sheath (holster) that I can wear on my hip. Can you just picture that? I was really jazzed about it. As much as I Love playing dress-up and getting all glamour girlish, my other Gemini personality is all dirt, mud and tom-boy and the knife just caps it off. I also got an emergency crank radio for camping, a really cool Swiss Gear backpack, a beautiful crimson red purse, a pair of red kickin' sunglasses with enough bling going on to make me look like a celebrity walkin' through the airport (winky wink), a pair of steppin' out black boots that take me from my normal 5'8" frame to 5'11" in one quick zip, a bird book, a butterfly book and some other things that I can't remember right now. Oh Santa was Good to me!

The next weekend after Christmas my grandson "Big Tree" came over and walked right up to the ficus tree that we had decorated with white lights and gold sparkly bulbs and said, "What did Santa bring you over here?" After I showed him what I got, then he walked over to where my stocking was hung and noticed that there was stuff in it, so he asked, "Can I look in your stocking?" I said, "Sure!" Big Tree knows that I don't eat candy but when I do, my sugar of choice is red Twizzler's brand licorice and orange circus peanuts. When he reached in my stocking and started pulling everything out he saw the red licorice and circus peanuts and said, "I knew it! I knew it! I knew Santa would put this in your stocking!"

Big Tree is real clear about Santa Claus and just like the movie Polar Express, it is all about believing. That's where he's at in his 4-1/2 year old world and believing makes a difference in how the experience plays out. So let's switch channels right here and talk about prayer, God and believing. Jesus said, "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." Matthew 21:22 What? Do you think He was joking around when He said that? I don't remember Jesus cracking jokes about anything much less prayer or saying something tongue in cheek. Pray and believe. That's pretty simple folks. Just read the passage because it is what it is. Now what do you think doubt, worry, fear and anxiety will do to a prayer request? Do you think those four words represent believing? Do you think those four words represent a trust in God and the power of His might? Remember my little chickadees, anything that we want or anything that is on our mind we are supposed to go to God as a little child believing. Hey, if we can go sit on Santa's lap as a child and ask for what we want and trust that, then we can certainly as a child of God sit on His lap and ask for what we want and BELIEVE IT WILL BE SO! Folks, this is when you don't have to be in adult mind, all human and fearful. You should be a little tiny child with your prayer request, going to The Father, believing without hesitation or reservation that your prayer request will be answered. In other words, you can't imagine it being any other way. Folks, when you pray and BELIEVE . . . it's a done deal.

Me!

CISSYBEAR'S MISSION IN LIFE

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

[Pictured - Cis is on the left and I'm on the right.] A couple of years ago I was having a conversation with my sister (Cis aka Cissybear) about what it means to have a 'passion' or a 'Mission in Life." Like so many other people Cis said, "I don't have a passion. I don't think I'm really passionate about anything." I said, "Really, well I just don't believe it." Ya' see folks, I've known Cis my whole Life (winky wink) and she has always had the same theme going but clearly she was not seeing it. So I pushed. I asked her to tell me about her dream in Life. She said that she didn't have a dream. Again, I said, "I don't believe it." I told her that I would go first and that I call my dream, "The Mystery Dancer," which many of you have probably already read in a previous daily message.

It was then that Cis made me promise not to laugh, which I did, and then she said, "Since 8th grade I have always wanted my own car lot. See! Isn't that crazy?" I said, "No that's not crazy! I could have easily guessed that!" I went on to recite Cis' work history for her. Her first job was working for a rent-a-car Company at the airport, which led to working for several other rent-a-car companies and even working for a car dealership in fleet sales. Instead of selling one car, Cis was selling groups of cars. She also spent a number of years working for a cab company; not as a driver but working behind the scenes. All of the monies that came from the cab driver's pockets touched Cis' fingers. She had her hands on every single dime that passed through the window from the cab driver to the Company. Cis was a bit amused and surprised that she really did have a theme (mission) in Life. Further I told her, "While you're at it why don't you look at all the cars in your driveway. You already have a car lot! Cis must have had five cars and all of them Good cars and running perfectly sitting in her driveway. And do I have to mention that every place she worked (the car rental companies, the car dealerships and the cab company) had their own form of a "car lot".

"When it's the Truth, it shows UP everywhere."
Dr. Loretta Standley and Gilda Stafford

Not believing in coincidences and knowing that everything does happen for a reason, I shared with Cis that I had just interviewed Marion Luna Brem on my radio show and had a copy of her book handy, which I gave to Cis. This was certainly a case of Divine Intervention with Divine Perfect Timing. Marion Luna Brem is a force to be reckoned with in the State of Texas when it comes to car dealerships. Marion has quite a story of courage and overcoming incredible odds. At the age of 30, Marion Luna Brem had lost her breast, her womb, her marriage and soon, the doctors said, she would lose her Life. But Marion literally dragged herself off a cold tile floor, put on a cheap wig and took on a world dominated by the 'Good ole boys' by selling her first car and opening her own car dealership. In the process, she raised two kids, beat a devastating illness, and turned steel into Love. Marion is so full of Love that she even named her car dealership Love Chrysler". Check out Marion's website and you will see a video on her home page sharing the Love! My sister Cis kept Marion's book on her desk at the cab company and didn't realize that she was unconsciously preparing to manifest her own dream.

Fast forward to two years ago, Saturn in Leo strikes and Cis (Leo) leaves her job at the cab company not really certain of her future. That first year of Saturn in Leo dealt Cis some pretty tough blows as one challenge came after another. Folks, things were pretty dang crummy for my sister and it was hard watching her go through it. Within one year of crumminess, Cis had it all figured out. Fast forward another year to January 2007 and "Cissybear" decides to open her own transportation company called, "Bear Transportation." With an abundance of knowledge, absolutely no money and tons of quiet determination, Cis began making her dream, a reality. Cis didn't just learn about cars since she was in the 8th grade; slowly, surely and steadily she was learning about "transportation."

Since opening her business in January 2007 to present Cis has become a registered vendor for the State of Missouri, she is a recognized transportation stakeholder with the East West Gateway Council of Government, she is a member of the local Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Transportation Solutions Committee in her county. She works side by side with Oats Transportaton, JC Transit, DRA (Disabilities Resource Association), the county Developmental Disabilities Resource Board, the Mid-East Area Agency on Aging and the Missouri Planning Council for Developmental Disabilities.

And there's more! Within this last year, Cis' name is boldly familiar with every single State Representative in Missouri on issues regarding transportation within the State of Missouri. [Pictured below: One of Cis' vans for Bear Transportation.]

Interestingly enough, this morning as a moving meditation I started vacuuming to tap into what I was supposed to write in my Daily Message today. As a Gemini I don't do quiet meditations otherwise I would probably get jittery or get bored and go to sleep. So I choose moving meditations. After about 10 minutes of vacuuming I heard a DLG (Download from God) to call my sister Cis and ask her permission to write about her 'Mission in Life.' When Cis answered the phone I said, "Hey Cissybear! Watcha' doin'?" She said, "Oh, I'm at the car dealership. I'm buying another van this very minute. You said today would be a Good day for me so I'm buying another van today. Actually, I might be buying two new vans today." Folks, was the timing of my phone call Divinely Inspired and Divinely Timed or what? Oh I guarantee, Cis will have her car lot, it just may show up bigger, better and more than what she expected. (winky wink) Just as Marion Luna Brem is a force to be reckoned with in the State of Texas, my sister Cis is a force to be reckoned with in the State of Missouri. Folks, don't tell me you can't do it! And remember - whatever you should be doing with your Life, you've been doing it your whole Life.

I CAN SEE!

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Many of you may have noticed through a few tiny messages I posted this weekend that I had scratched my cornea, which slowed me down considerably. Now don't think for a second that I let this experience slip past my mind without recognizing that I was in the midst of dealing with sight, insight, foresight and hindsight. Oh yeah folks, I get it. Even more, last week I did the same thing to my other eyeball. How's that for a balancing act and a message being sent loud and clear? Now that's what you call -- CLARITY!

I have been over here at my daughter Karmen's house since last Thursday and I will still be here until tomorrow afternoon. Karmen and Larry leave town every year for a new destination to celebrate their annniversary. This time they went to South Florida. Well this weekend I had to share my grandson "Big Tree" with Larry's side of the family; so in between dropping "Big Tree" off on Friday evening and picking him up Sunday evening I spent the weekend nursing my scratched eyeball. I was completely immobile until yesterday afternoon when my eye was fully healed. (The cornea is the fastest healing tissue on the human body and heals within 24 to 36 hours.)

Before I went to pick up "Big Tree" I stopped at my storage locker because I wanted to grab a piece of furniture that I have missed having around me. Since I had Karmen's van, this was the perfect opportunity to grab it. Keep in mind that I have not been to my storage locker in ages. I mean ages! Further, my storage locker is actually bigger than the space I live in. When I closed the clinic to pursue the Life I have right now, I moved from a gloriously large extravagant space to a studio apartment. So all of my big heavy beautiful furniture went into storage. For the first four years out of the seven years since I closed the clinic, I came minutes away from having all of my belongings sold due to failure to pay the storage fee. Folks, I had so many close calls you would not believe it. If the auction was to happen at 1:00 PM on a certain date then I was rolling in at 12:55 PM with the cash. I can't get any more honest with you than that. It really was within minutes of the auctioneer talking fast like Porky the Pig about my belongings.

Folks, it was ugly. But you know what? "Big hairy deal," I always thought. I am going to keep going and I will not be distracted. "I am on a mission from God," I told myself. Did I believe it or not? I always figured that if I showed God that I was serious then He would always protect me. If I just kept showing Him that I was serious and let it roll off my back, knowing that I was in full Trust mode and I wouldn't freak out and give up, then He would ALWAYS have my back. ALWAYS! So you know what folks? I stopped worrying about finances a long time ago. I believed if that is the worst thing that ever happens to me, then I can deal with that easy peasy. I can always make more money and THAT is a given for all of us. It may take some time but THAT was the Truth! Even when things were as bleak as not being able to pay rent for 5 months, no electricity, my parents buying me food and on the brink of having my stuff sold . . I kept God close and I kept typing this website at the coffee shop when the lights really did go out. I just kept going. Okay, so I fell on the floor a few times in the fetal position and cried like a baby but that was for about 20 minutes max and then up into the chair I went again. I had to keep praying and rowing. Pray, row, pray, row, pray, row. You don't pray and then do nothing. You pray and row!

Pray to God and row to shore.
Old Indian Proverb~

So there I was yesterday, standing at the edge of my storage locker looking in. What I wanted was half way back so I started moving things and pulling some things out in order to get in. After just 10 minutes I stopped and looked at all of my stuff and said outloud, "Is this who you were?" Then I started picking up stuff and asked myself outloud, "What does this mean to you?" And I would answer back, "Not a damn thing!" This is a huge storage space, which is the equilavent of a two car garage. As I moved things around I kept stepping on broken locks where the storage facility would have to cut my lock and put on their lock to prevent me from getting in and removing my things. So they would cut my lock and just throw it on the ground inside the locker. Folks, yesterday I picked up 16 broken locks, which means every 3 months for 4 years they would have to put a lien on my stuff, lock me out, cut my lock, slap late fees on me, slap a lien fee on me and then come inches away from auctioning my stuff with someone who talks fast like "Porky the Pig". (winky wink) Hey, I have a friend who is an auctioneer and she thinks that's funny! No offense to auctioneers. Then I would pay up at the last minute including the price of a new lock, they would put it on and it would happen all over again in another 3 months.

I just stood there with a goofey grin on my face, amused at how far I had come with my passion and how I never even thought about giving up on the Life I live right now. Okay, in a fit of self-pity I would probably utter something stupid, pitiful, childish and throw myself on the floor, but then I would pick myself up and row harder than I did the day before. I would get on my computer and type faster. I would stay up later. I would get up earlier. I would channel my energy into something creative. Giving up was simply not an option because it was my passion. Since it was my passion, I didn't know how to give up. Folks, your passion means you can't stop even if you don't get paid for it. The first four years after I closed the clinic I was barely and I mean barely making money. I would go literally months without making a dime!

Oh my dear little chickadees, I have so much more inside of me. I have so much more to share with you. I have so much more to give you. Even though this website is definitely a resounding success story and I'm on the cusp of living the entire dream I had for it, there is SO MUCH MORE and I am set on taking all of you with me. If you are in a fearful place, just remember what I did -- I used fear to drive me forward. Standing at the edge of my storage locker, I felt like the man who was healed of his blindness in scripture. I CAN SEE! I CAN SEE!

I'm going back to the storage locker right now to clear out as much as I can before I pick up "Big Tree" from school and take some of this stuff to Goodwill, the Salvation Army and St. Vincent DePaul Society. Gotta spread the Love baby! I will have my phone with me, as usual. Don't hesitate to call if you need something. It's what I do. (winky wink)

NEW INFO ON CONTACT BUTTON

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Everything written into today's Daily Message is under the Contact Button at the top of the left blue column. FROM THIS DAY FORWARD I WILL ONLY ANSWER HEALTH QUESTIONS OVER THE TELEPHONE. I will no longer answer any health questions through e-mail simply because it just takes too much time to volley several e-mails back and forth to get all of the information I need. I have laid out the exact information I need in order to answer a health question by e-mail but there is always something missing. By the time the person e-mails me back, they might give a one word response such as "yes" or "no," and I may have already answered a bazillion other e-mails and forgotten what their e-mail was about or what I even asked. Then I have to go searching for their original e-mail. So I sit there saying to myself, "Yes or no what?" Using complete sentences in e-mail is a lost form of communication and it drives me BONKERS! It's just too time consuming, not to mention frustrating, so from now on my policy is -- PHONE ONLY FOR HEALTH QUESTIONS. When you call me with a health question please be prepared to answer the following information.

HEALTH QUESTIONS ON THE PHONE

1. Age is a large factor in every health condition, illness, syndrome, disease, etc., please give your exact birth date (month/date/year).

2. Before calling, take the time to read the section on this site called Signs and Symptoms." Did you know that 90 - 95% of your doctor's diagnosis will come from the information you give? That's right! If you leave something out, no matter how big or small, then the doctor will be diagnosing you without having all of the information. They only know what you tell them and they are asking you questions for a reason. Remember, they are also ordering tests based on what you say. In order for me to give you some guidance, be prepared to be VERY DESCRIPTIVE and read the Signs and Symptoms" section.

3. I DO NOT charge a fee for a health question. Charging a fee for a health question would not only be silly, it would be greedy and out of integrity with my belief system. Health Consultations or Extensive Laboratory Test Interpretations require a fee because they involve an entire health history and a conversation that last 1-1/2 hours.

4. If you live in the U.S. and prefer that I call you, then just e-mail me your phone number on the following link with the preferred time for me to call you back and YOUR TIME ZONE! healthquestion@drstandley.com. IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE U.S., YOU WILL NEED TO CALL ME BACK!

5. I answer my own phone. The number is 314.420.5099, which is also posted at the top of this site in the gray box of every page. If I answer, you have not interrupted me. If I do not answer, just leave your name and number because I WILL call you back as soon as I can. Leave me a few choice times to return your call, plus your time zone.

You can always keep up with me by reading the Daily Message, especially if I am on the road and returning calls later than usual.

WHEN CALLING ME ABOUT ANYTHING

    1) I answer my own phone. If I answer the telephone then you did not interrupt me. If I do not answer leave your name and telephone number and I WILL call you back. I return phone calls fairly quickly.
    2) Make certain you say in your message what time zone you are in. If I call you back in the morning, I might be waking you up and that could be quite the bummer for you.
    3) If you live outside of the U.S., then you will have to call me back.
    4) If I answer the phone and you hear background noise I could be anywhere. Think nothing of it. I lead a very spontaneous Life so I am not attached to my desk. Again, you did not interrupt if I answer. Just ask your question and let's get you taken care of quickly.
    5) If it is Saturday or Sunday, I will still call in for messages but I generally do not answer on the weekends. A girl has to have some down time. (winky wink). I understand that emotions sometimes need immediate attention and I will respond to your call quickly if I hear such a need in your voice.
    6) When calling to schedule an appointment for a full blown health consult or an intuitive reading, I take the health consults and intuitive readings as they come in. I do charge a fee for these services which you can find in the Holistic Shop. I lead a very spontaneous Life so if you are ready . . then I'll be ready for you.
    7) What is the difference between a health consult and a health question? A question is a question which I do not charge fees for but a health consult requires going through your entire health history for more intense health issues. A consult will require an appointment and a fee.
    8) What is an intuitive reading? That is when I use my intuition to help you get to the place that you desire to be. I do charge a fee for this service.

BE NICE - BE PREPARED
Continued . . .

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

WOW (wide-open-wonderment)! Rarely do I ever feel the need to explain a previous daily message but today, I do. I received enough e-mails about my New Year's Resolutions that I feel the need to address them openly rather than individually because that would just take too much time. Folks, when I write you a Daily Message it is written with the intent for you to figure out your own self . . not me or anyone else! I write about me to relate to you. The intent is for you to look at your Life and ask yourself, "What does this Daily Message remind me of in my own Daily Message?" I want you to think about you . . not me . . or someone at work . . or your romantic partner . . or your boss . . or your children . . or your parents. I want you to think about YOU! What about YOU?

I wanted you to know how I arrived at my New Year's Resolutions through paying attention to my DLGs. The most important message was hearing the DLG! It was the train of thought, the route of existance that brought me to the place that I needed to be, which was the awareness that I needed to be nicer and be prepared. These New Year's Resolutions had a bigger meaning for me than what I wrote but there's only so much time.

Wanting to be nicer is NOT about how to handle people who are not nice and why should I be nice to others if they aren't nice to me. It is what it is . . it's about my desire to be nicer. Period. If other people are not nice, that's not my deal. My desire to be a nice person has nothing to do with if someone else isn't. If I entertained the question mark about whether everyone else was nice or not, then I'd never get to me. I'm all about figuring out me. So, my question mark remains, "Am I nice and how can I be nicer?"

The fact that I need to be "more prepared" came through the experience that it did. It arrived in the manner that it had to in order for me to get it. It had nothing to do with me wanting to be perfect or being a North Node Virgo because I believe there to be no perfection except God. Many many many Virgo's out there latched on to my use of the word "perfect," which was really not the message at all. First, I believe God to be the only One perfect. The fact that I wanted to read 'The Word' perfectly was not about being perfectly perfect when I am a North Node Virgo with dyslexia as much as it was about my desire to be eloquent and delivering 'The Word' beautifully spoken and intact. Even if I skipped a word or two, who would know unless they were reading along. Big deal. I wanted to be eloquent and I wanted the congregation to hear 'The Word.' I revere 'The Word' not my ego. Maybe I should have said that. Yes, I am certainly perfection-istic, but note, it does end with "istic," which is similar to adding "ish" to time. So it's around that time and not exactly at that time. Well, I do tend to be exacting when it comes to time and not an "ish" person at all. (winky wink) I admit, I do have a Type-A, anal-retentive North Node, even so, I also know that human perfection is a silly illusion and recognize that I am entitled to my humanness.

Folks, I literally fly by the seat of my pants and I schedule nothing in my Life except for following the schedule to be 'in service' to others at church. The Mass schedule is the only thing that tethers me otherwise I'll just float away and show up a month from now skippity-do-dahing along. I need that schedule! You might not, but I do. Talk about a flighty Gemini! I even take intuitive readings and chart readings at the last minute because I don't like to schedule A THING! I Love it when someone calls up and says, "Can we do the reading now?" At the same time, the other half of me (since as a Gemini I am two people in one) . . I do like to think that I am one of THE MOST prepared people that I know. I think ahead. Way ahead. I think of everything even though I don't necessarily plan for anything. That's too much control for me because I like to keep my options open. As far as thinking ahead, I carry a 10 foot extension cord and a six outlet surge protector in my back pack so that I always have options to have power wherever I go. I do not like to be slowed down when I am ready to rumble, so I depend on me. I can count on me to be prepared but not always the coffee shop if more people than outlets are trying to source power. There's nothing worse than all of the outlets taken at the coffee shop or at an airport. I pull out the six outlet surge protector and there's room for everyone! Yippee! You should see the look on everyone's faces. Someone will invariably say, "Good idea!" and I respond with a big ol' smile, "I know!" Oh yeah, prepared? anal-retentive? Type-A? That's me! I am definitely prepared! I'm more like an Eagle Scout than a Girl Scout but the DLG (Download from God) that I received to "be prepared" went deeper than my usual scouting preparedness, it went to my spiritual core that I immediately understood.

"Be nice" is my humanness resolution. "Be prepared" is my spirit's resolution.

MY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS

AudioOsiyo or 'Siyo [Hello in Cherokee]

I always make New Year's resolutions. They are always easy to remember statements that have something to do with character-building and nothing to do with body-building. In other words, I don't make diet or health related resolutions. I feel that if I am working on my character, then all of those physical need-to's will fall into place where they should have been before I lost my mind and developed character flaws.

RESOLUTION #1 - BE NICE: This sounds easy enough but sitting in a coffee shop last week I found out that I wasn't very nice at all. This isn't just how I act and react, it's what I think. I am a Gemini and our motto is, "I think therefore I am" and I want to be the best Gemini that God made me to be; therefore, what I think is important to me. So there I was sitting in a booth typing away when a man walked by and right away I formed an opinion of him based on how he looked. Well, I do believe that the more we are conscious, the more we will realize when we are unconscious. I believe the awareness will come quicker to those of us who are deliberately conscious of our actions and reactions. At the exact moment that I went unconscious I heard a DLG (Download from God) say, "That wasn't very nice. Don't you talk about my child that way!" My eyes immediately began to swell as I realized what I had done. Quickly I heard another DLG . . "What if that were your child or grandchild and someone thought that same thing about them? How would that make you feel?" The tears started streaming down my cheeks because I knew that I hurt God. I hurt Him! I would be crushed . . CRUSHED! . . if I knew someone were thinking bad things about my child or grandchild or anyone that I Loved for that matter. That would hurt me so bad. Then I heard the final DLG . . . "Be nice Loretta. Be nice."

RESOLUTION #2 - BE PREPARED: The past month or so my reading and writing issues (dyslexia) have been dealing me a couple of hard blows. As I have no doubt shared with you before, I am a practicing Catholic and I am a Lector (reader) and Eucharistic Minister (help to serve communion during Mass and bring communion to the sick or home bound). Well this past Sunday at the 10:00 AM Mass I was scheduled as a Eucharistic Minister. Before Mass we all gather with the priests, altar boys aka servers and deacons in the sacristy (a room where the priest vestments and sacred vessels are kept) to pray together before Mass. It was about 9:50 AM when the Monsignor asked where the other Lector was and no one knew. I screamed inside, OH NO! NO! PLEASE! I quickly prayed, "Please show up, please show up!" I was the only other Lector standing there and I started shaking knowing that I was going to have to read. This shook me up because the last two times I read my dyslexia got the best of me and I stumbled really bad during the reading and actually stuttered. Not only do I want to read "The Word" perfectly but this 10:00 AM Mass is broadcast on the radio.

Monsignor turned and looked at the clock, now it was 9:55 AM, then he turned to me and said, "Loretta, we need you to read this!" Normally I'm fine about reading but those last two times really shook my confidence. Since the Spiritual Progression Path on this website changes daily, I am quite familiar with the daily readings anyway, but still, I prayed frantically to God saying, "Oh God, please support me and let me read Your Word perfectly so that they hear You and not me. Move through me Holy Spirit, move through me." Then I started negotiating with God and told Him that if He gets me through the reading then I will no longer do a certain thing that I had been doing. It will cease immediately. Moses negotiated with God so I figured, what the heck I'll negotiate too. Well the reading went smoothly and I immediately thanked God for the support when I heard another DLG, "NOW! Be prepared!" I thought, "Wow this is like the whole oil lamps scripture, so you'd better be prepared for anything." After Mass the Monsignor complimented me on the reading and I told him what was going on inside me and how I had negotiated with God. He said, "What did you negotiate?" I said, "You don't want to know." He laughed as he usually does at my musings, shook his head smiling and said, "Loretta!"

"Now get out there, go place yourself UP!
and practice being you."
