Which is worse (for me), what I put into my mouth or what comes out of my mouth?
"A hypocrite is a person who - but who isn't?"
~Don Marquis
I am who I present myself to be.
For a more enriching experience, go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, I have been guilty of holding others to a standard that I don't even follow. Even further, I have been guilty of shaming others for offenses that I have committed in the past and sometimes even the recent past. I have been guilty of pointing fingers at others for not doing the right thing but haven't lifted one finger to do the right thing myself. Father, I have been a hypocrite. From now on, I will be more aware of myself and what I support, approve, condemn, deny and consent to and in turn do the right thing that is pleasing to You.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matthew 15:1-2, 10-14
1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said,
2 "Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat."
10 And He called the people to Him and said to them, “Hear and understand:
11 not what goes into the mouth defiles a man, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
12 Then the disciples came and said to Him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
13 He answered, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up.
14 Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”
