EVENING PRIMROSE (Oenothera biennis)

Evening Primrose

DESCRIPTION: Evening Primrose contains minerals and is high in magnesium and potassium. Evening Primrose has been known to stimulate action in the stomach which will help spleen and liver conditions. It also aids the gastro-intestinal tract when the diet is less than optimal. It has been used to treat Multiple Sclerosis and contains a hormone-like property called prostaglandins that are considered miracle molecules.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Evening Primrose has been used to stop thrombosis and lower blood pressure. It aids and strengthens the blood vessels to relieve the pain of angina. Evening Primrose is also known to slow done the formation of cholesterol, thereby helping to lower cholesterol. It also helps to inhibit the formation of blood clots and lowers the blood pressure, especially those with mild hypertension. Evening Primrose has been used for inflammatory processes such as arthritis. It has also been used to treat cancer.

POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS: None known at this time. Consult your doctor is you have blood pressure problems or blood disorders or if you are taking medication of any kind.

PARTS USED: The bark and oil from the leaves.

GENERAL USAGE: Evening Primrose has been used for alcoholism, allergies, arthritic conditions, spasmodic asthma, colon problems, cancer, the common cold, coughing, menstrual cramps, female problems, glaucoma, migraines, headaches, high blood pressure, hyperactivity in adults or children, mild depression, multiple sclerosis, nervousness, neuralgia, obesity, sedative effectiveness, skin problems, ulcers and whooping cough.
