It has long been known, natural sunlight has positive effects on human beings, as well as animals and plant life. The fact is, no living organism was ever meant to spend long periods of time under poor quality, artifically unbalanced lights.

Research in this area is now uncovering medical abnormalities that poor color quality lights in the work place have produced.
Full spectrum fluorescents offer many advantages: enhanced office atmosphere, perfectly balanced full spectrum lighting, glare elimination and reduced eye strain, higher morale and less absenteeism, increased growth and development in children, and they are found to be effective in treating winter depression.
Full spectrum fluorescents are as close as artificial light can come to natural outdoor lighting. In order to compare artificial and natural light sources, the CRI (Color Rendering Index) has to be evaluated. Natural outdoor lighting has a CRI of 100, meaning colors are displayed accurately. This is using the natural outdoor sunlight as the standard for all artificial lighting. Fluorescents normally used in offices have a CRI rating of 62, therefore yellow on the color spectrum is enhanced.
