For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading below serves as a bold reminder to always be aware of when I am doing things for appearances only or to impress others and when I am doing things out of the Goodness of my heart. Doing things for appearances only and superficial gratification is not real, for it is temporary. When I operate from the 'Goodness of my heart' then that is where the juice is, the peace is and the Love is because True Goodness does not calculate anything. Goodness does not withhold what it has. Goodness gives without hestitation or reservation. Goodness cannot help but give. Out of the Goodness of my heart is where I am truly comfortable and where it should feel natural for me because this is who You created me to be. Why in the world would I care what a person would think of me, more than You would think of me, is beyond me. Thank You Father for this awareness today, to always operate from the Goodness of my heart and to spend this Goodness, lavishly.
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark
Mark 12:38-44
38 And in His teaching He said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to go about in long robes, and to have salutations in the market places
39 and the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts,
40 who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation."
41 And He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the multitude putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums.
42 And a poor widow came, and put in two copper coins, which make a penny.
43 And He called His disciples to Him, and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury.
44 For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, her whole living."
