Are you patient? How quickly can you bring yourself to a level of calm in order to listen, respond, take action or assist? Usually a lack of patience is directly related to a 'spirit of controlling behavior'. Ouch! Well yeah, think about it. The music video I chose for today might surprise you. The band is not really known for their patience, neither is the leader singer, but that is precisely why this is the perfect song for today. If you can watch this video twice ... the first time seeing the band in the relaxed, mellow, calm and peaceful setting in which they deliver the song ... that would be great. Notice how even the lead singer will peacefully see himself on TV in a loud, voracious and crazy way. The second time you watch this video ... listen to it 'as if' you can God are singing to each other. You will know your parts of the song and you will recognize God's parts in the song. Enjoy this peaceful moment and perhaps the little prayer will give you some juicy juice as well.
How can I patient myself or help to patient others before addressing a difficult situation?
"A samurai must remain calm at all times even in the face of danger."
~Chris Bradford, The Way of the Sword
My spirit is calm, thereby influencing my actions.
For a more enriching experience, go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, while today's reading is more known for revealing our judgment, there is something else very important in this reading. It caused me to think about how I pass the time when I need to calm myself or help to calm others. No one really knows why Jesus bent down and wrote in the dirt with His finger or even what He wrote, but it does stand to reason that perhaps He was just doodling and merely passing time and giving the people time to think about their actions before they carried out their actions any further. Father, thank You for this simplistic awareness today that shows me how calming my spirit can also help calm the spiritedness in others.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John
John 8:1-11
1 while Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 But early in the morning He arrived again in the temple area, and all the people started coming to Him, and He sat down and taught them.
3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery and made her stand in the middle.
4 They said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.
5 Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?"
6 They said this to test Him, so that they could have some charge to bring against Him. Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with His finger.
7 But when they continued asking Him, He straightened up and said to them, "Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."
8 Again He bent down and wrote on the ground.
9 And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders. So He was left alone with the woman before Him.
10 Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
11 She replied, "No one, sir." Then Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, (and) from now on do not sin any more."
