Father, today's reading below is a wonderful reminder of how Jesus chose ordinary people to do extraordinary things. He did not choose men of wealth, prominence or status to do great things, He chose ordinary people. The men He chose had no special advantage on anyone else, in fact, because they were ordinary, they could relate well to others. This causes me to wonder why we are so surprised when an ordinary person accomplishes great things because it is what we were designed to do. We were all designed by You to be capable of something special and Jesus used each man's capability to do the work that needed to be done. This reminds me that I should have absolutely no fear when I use Your-Given gifts to do what needs to be done. I am quite capable of great things simply because You designed me to be that way. Thank You for this wonderful reminder that You have a purpose for me and all I have to do is say accept the mission, just as the apostles did without question, fear or hesitation. Thank You for this wonderful awareness today.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark
Mark 3:13-19
13 And He went up on the mountain, and called to Him those whom He desired; and they came to Him.
14 And He appointed twelve, to be with Him, and to be sent out to preach
15 and have authority to cast out demons:
16 Simon whom He surnamed Peter;
17 James the son of Zeb'edee and John the brother of James, whom He surnamed Bo-aner'ges, that is, sons of thunder;
18 Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Cananaean,
19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him.
