Father, when I read this Scripture below, my heart is moved with compassion as I see the desire of the crowd to listen and learn from Jesus. While Jesus was taking the apostles to a quiet location to rest, the crowd saw the direction they were going and actually beat them there. When Jesus saw this His heart was moved with pity because He could see how thirsty they were for knowledge. Some in the crowd may have been desperate for something, anything and some may have even turned to Jesus because they were grasping at straws in desperation to change their Life. Regardless of each person's reason, Jesus was moved with pity when He saw them arrive at the location before He and His apostles did. This causes me to realize that we are all not only students but teachers as well. There is always an opportunity for me to teach through my example, knowledge and experience without involving my ego or concerning myself with what is in it for me. Father, please help me to realize when I am being required to step up and teach even if it is for a moment and to always remember that I ultimately work for You!
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark
Mark 6:30-34
30 The apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught.
31 He said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." People were coming and going in great numbers, and they had no opportunity even to eat.
32 So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place.
33 People saw them leaving and many came to know about it. They hastened there on foot from all the towns and arrived at the place before them.
34 When He disembarked and saw the vast crowd, His heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things.
