Father, today's reading is rather simple and to the point. The guards had no spiritual foundation under their feet; therefore, they were not prepared to turn down the bribe that resulted in one of the biggest lies and rumors of humankind. This has caused me to wonder, what would be my selling price? Do I have one? I do not believe I have a selling price where You and Your Son Jesus are concerned, even still, I do not want to find out. At no point in my day, or a day in my Life, do I ever want to find myself in denial or in sell-out territory. To say nothing in Your defense can look like agreement. To say nothing in anyone's defense can look like agreement. Thank You for this awareness today that I must always be bold in my spiritual beliefs and more importantly, instead of talking the talk, I must walk the talk. When I walk my talk, then others may be wondering how I do it and may ask questions, which leaves a door open to You through me. Thank You Father. Thank You!
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matthew 28:8-15
8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell His disciples.
9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, "Hail!" And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.
10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me."
11 While they were going, behold, some of the guards went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place.
12 And when they had assembled with the elders and taken counsel, they gave a sum of money to the soldiers
13 and said, "Tell people, 'His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.'
14 And if this comes to the governor's ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble."
15 So they took the money and did as they were directed; and this story has been spread among the Jews to this day.
