Father, today's reading below brings many things to my mind; mainly that I should always look over my own like a shepherd. As the reading clearly indicates, someone who does not have ownership has less concern than the owner (shepherd). The appreciation factor, risk and level of commitment are not the same between the hired individual and the owner (shepherd). A shepherd knows what is his or her's. This causes me to be even more aware of businesses and how I act and react toward them. Just because I do not own the business that I do business with does not mean that I should have less respect for their responsibilities and obligations. Just as the hired man who does not own the business should not have any less respect for the owner's responsibilities and obligations. But alas, that is what happens. After all, it is the owner who assumes all the risk. There is a great responsibility and obligation in that which one owns. When one assumes ownership, they also assume the risk. This reminds me that I need to pay more attention to what I own and my own flock before pointing a finger at others. Thank You Father for this increased awareness of how I should take more care, concern and responsibility for my own Life and take ownership.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John
John 10:11-18
[Jesus said to them . . .]
11 "I am the Good Shepherd. A good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
12 A hired man, who is not a shepherd and whose sheep are not his own, sees a wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away, and the wolf catches and scatters them.
13 This is because he works for pay and has no concern for the sheep.
14 I AM the Good Shepherd, and I know mine and mine know Me,
15 just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I will lay down My Life for the sheep.
16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear My Voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd.
17 This is why the Father Loves Me, because I lay down My Life in order to take it up again.
18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down on My own. I have power to lay it down, and power to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father."
