For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading is a wonderful reminder that You are the staple in my Life that I can not do without. Bread and water are staples of Life that nourish and feed the body so that it can sustain physical Life. Jesus is is the equivalent of bread and water for the soul. When He says that He is, "the Bread of Life," that is indeed gospel because it is through Him (like a doorway) that spiritual Life is sustained. Our physical body can not live without food just our spirit can not live without spiritual nourishment. This is quite a bold example that He has set before us and one that should be taken seriously. Spending time with You every single day and feeding my soul should be the first thing on my list every single day. Without spiritual awareness, Life is so much more difficult to manage. Thank You for this gentle reminder to always begin my day chewing and mentating on my spiritual substance (Bread) before I begin thinking about or doing anything else.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John
John 6:35-40
35 Jesus said to them, "I am the Bread of Life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.
36 But I told you that although You have seen (Me), you do not believe.
37 Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to Me,
38 because I came down from heaven not to do My own will but the will of the One who sent Me.
39 And this is the Will of the One who sent Me, that I should not lose anything of what He gave Me, but that I should raise it (on) the last day.
40 For this is the Will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal Life, and I shall raise Him (on) the last day."
