My daughter as a lump at the top of her rib cage in the middle is this common or should I take her to a doctor?

The information you gave is very vague. In order for any doctor to give you their best feedback, please be more exact. A doctor will arrive at their diagnosis using 90 to 95 percent of what a patient says.
First, how old is your daughter?
What side of the rib cage?
Under the breast tissue?
Above the breast tissue?
Along the collar bone?
Last rib?
Is it bony feeling or lumpy bumpy (like a cyst)?
