Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.
Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.
Sometimes it is necessary to review the rules of kindergarten to remember how to be nice to others and use Good manners. And sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the 'Activities of Daily Living' in order to take better care of ourselves and start living Life rightly.

Long fingernails and toenails attract germs and cause infected nail beds and infections. They also transfer a lot of germs. Always keep your nails trimmed. Your hands are one of the dirtiest parts of your body, especially if you do not wash them before and after anything. |
Anytime you are feeling down and out, that's the perfect time to cram in a few minutes of exercise. Physical movement helps increases your brain's feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins, which is often referred to as a runner's high. |
I keep telling myself that I am going to 'paste the oven' and wipe it down the next morning, so today I'm really going to do it. What I mean by 'paste the oven' is I use baking soda mixed with water to make a paste and slather it all over the inside of the oven. I have an aversion to aerosol anything. |
I always taught my daughter, spend all of your money on education and travel. Spend your money on experiences instead of stuff. Experiences gives you knowledge, memories and enlightenment, while stuff is just filler. Having more stuff does not mean you are doing better. It could mean you have more more bills, more responsibility, less time and less money. |
I never count a response of "I'll try" or "maybe" as a commitment. When I plan a party and I receive one of these responses, I do not count them in my food count because they are typically no shows. I say, "I'll put you down as a 'no' and if you can make it, please let me know." Maybe's and I'll tries rarely show up because they are non-committal. |
Boiled eggs are the perfect food. If you have a hard time boiling them, then bake them. Bake the eggs in muffin tins for just 30 minutes at 350 degrees (without water). Remove and put the eggs in a bucket of ice water for at least 10 minutes. Cooking time varies from oven to oven. |
