| LEARN HOW TO SEE IN THE DARK |
Do you believe things happen for a reason or not? And if you do, then what does this do to your spirit, your attitude and your approach to the day?
One day (about 12 years ago) when I was still living in the city (the Central West End in St. Louis) we had a severe storm blow through and the lights went out. BOOM! Just like that, everything went dark. The transformer on my block blew up, caught on fire and we were without power on my block for three (3) days.
I always pay close attention to the number three. Since it is a favorite number of God's, then it is a favorite number of mine. During that time I continued on as if nothing happened, but remained mindful that we were now on day three (3) of Lights out and what could this possibly mean. I continued on and kept updating my website from a nearby coffee shop so I could use their Wi-Fi.
This reminded me of my all-time favorite line in TV history from the now cancelled show, 'Joan of Arcardia'. This show told the story of teenager Joan Girardi who sees and speaks with God and performs tasks that He gives her. Joan was always being approached by God who revealed Himself to her through other people. Sometimes God showed up as a 6 year old girl, a janitor, a gay man, a coffee shop clerk, a bus driver, a punk rocker or a librarian.
In one season finale episode, Joan is in the hospital in the psyche ward, so Punk-Rocker God came to visit her. Joan began yelling at Him and telling Him that everything she was going through was His fault. Joan was crying and demanded answers. She didn't understand what was going on. She basically said it was His fault for calling her to do His work! She was losing her mind and she had just had enough!
As Punk-Rocker God was leaving the room and nearing the door, He gently turned, looked over His shoulder at Joan and said, "Learn how to see in the dark."
A bazillion blessings ~Loretta
