For those of you who do not know, every morning I wake up to music playing outside of my head (no radio on), which I call a Musical DLG™ (Download from God™). This morning's Musical DLG™ called, 'Stronger' by Kelly Clarkson reminded of an interview I saw recently by Harvey Levin, founder of the celebrity news website TMZ and host of the TV show 'OBJECTified'. That is not a typing error, OBJECTified (the show) is spelled that way. Harvey was interviewing Martha Stewart and they were talking about some of the challenges she has been through, including her five month prison term. He made the statement, "What doesn't kill you make you stronger." Martha said she really didn't believe that statement. She believed you are either strong or you are not. I could not agree more, while at the same time I also believe that some people do not know just how strong they are until they are faced with a challenge, a fear or a tragedy. Still I don't believe they are any stronger than what they already were. What might be stronger is the awareness they have about themselves. While it might take some people a challenge, a fear or a tragedy to realize their strength, they actually had that strength living inside of them all along.
It's like Peter, he didn't know how strong he was, but Jesus sure did. Jesus tapped him into service and changed his name from Simon to Peter. In Aramaic Peter means 'stone'. Jesus said, "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it." DANG, that is some kind of STRONG! Simon (Peter) had the strength, hardness, toughness and longevity of a stone and didn't even know it, but Jesus sure did. Peter had to go to hell and back (in his mind) after he denied Jesus three times but he pulled through and was on his job!
If you are one who knows you are strong, or if you are one who came to realize your strength through a challenge, a fear or a tragedy, it is my belief that you have been tapped by God Himself and however you had to get there, is how you had to get there. You are not any stronger than you already were, you just so happen to realize it now. You have been tapped to help those who cannot help themselves or who cannot yet source their own strength. It is highly doubtful that your strength is just about you. Further, nothing has to almost kill you to make you stronger, but if that is what you need to realize it, then I guess that is what it will take. Just like Glenda told Dorothy, "You always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself."
