For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, my judgment of others needs to stop, especially when I don't even know the other person's story. I offer no excuse. Judging others does not make me a better person, nor does it do anything positive for the other individual. Judging others doesn't show who they are, it shows who I am. While the scribes and Pharisees confronted Jesus for not fully resting on the Sabbath, Jesus defended His position by arguing that human need takes precedence over a ritualistic custom. The scribes and Pharisees were merely following a custom and not giving full thought to human needs and survival. Father, I come to You modest and humble admitting this severely unattractive behavior and from this day forward I will do my best to discontinue engaging in such judgment. I know what I have done to the least of your children, I have also done to You. Please help me be more attentive toward humanity and to move through my Life with grace and respect for others.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
1 While He was going through a field of grain on a sabbath, His disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating them.
2 Some Pharisees said, "Why are you doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?"
3 Jesus said to them in reply, "Have you not read what David did when he and those (who were) with him were hungry?
4 (How) he went into the house of God, took the bread of offering, which only the priests could lawfully eat, ate of it, and shared it with his companions."
5 Then He said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath."
