Who can I depend on?
"The more we depend on God, the more dependable we find He is."
~Cliff Richard (British pop singer)
My dependence is only in spiritual form.
For a more enriching experience, go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading serves as a gentle reminder of how I am to be in total dependence on You for all of my needs. As You well know from my track record, this hasn't always been easy for me. There are certainly times when I have looked more at this physical world and the people in it to satisfy my needs instead of looking to You first. I realize that I must look to Your Strength for all my needs instead of relying on my own because without You, who am I? What in the world could I possibly do better without You than with You? Thank You Father, for this wonderful awareness that I must depend on You as any little child would depend on their parent.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark
7 He summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
8 He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick--no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
9 They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic.
10 He said to them, "Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.
11 Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them."
12 So they went off and preached repentance.
13 They drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.
