'KANATI AND SELU' The Origin of Game and Corn Authentic Cherokee Made Bead Jewelry

Kanati (Kah-nah-tay) and Selu (Shay-loo) are to the Cherokee similar to Adam and Eve. Kanati is 'The Great Hunter' or 'The Lucky Hunter' and Selu is 'The Corn Mother' or 'Maize'. Kanati and Selu are husband and wife, who are the first man and the first woman. Whenever Kana'ti went into mountains he always brought back a fat buck or doe, or maybe a couple of turkeys. Whenever Selu leaned over her basket and rubbed her stomach, the basket filled with corn and when she rubbed her armpits the basket filled with beans.

NOTE -- The necklaces can be worn by either men or women.

NOTE -- As with the other sets both necklaces can be worn together with the earrings . . . or the turquoise colored necklace can be worn by a woman with the earrings . . . and the brown necklace worn by a man.
