Yucca was used by the Southwest Indians for skin conditions and slow healing ulcerations. The root contains a high content of Vitamins A, B-complex and some Vitamin C. It is high in calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, manganese and copper.
The properties of Yucca that help in arthritis and rheumatism are due to the Yucca plants' high content of steroid saponin which are precursors to cortisone.
