Witch hazel is a plant. The chemical in witch hazel, called tannins, helps to reduce swelling, repair broken skin and fight bacteria.
Treats diarrhea, mucus colitis, vomiting blood, tuberculosis, colds, fevers, tumors and cancer. Witch hazel can also be applied on the skin to treat skin irritation, eye inflammation, pain and swelling on the body, varicose veins and bruises.
A cancer-causing chemical in witch hazel, called safrole, is in very small amounts but individuals should still be mindful of this note.
