The fruit is widely appreciated for its characteristic aroma, bright red colors, juicy texture, and sweetness. It is consumed either fresh or in such prepared foods as preserves, fruit juice, pies, ice creams, milkshakes, and chocolates.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Excellent source of vitamin C. Also associated with decreasing cardiovascular disease risk. Phytochemicals act as an anti-inflammatory or anti cancer. Consumptions also lowers rate of hypertension, inflammation, cancer and death from cardiovascular diseases. May also be beneficial in lowering blood LDL cholesterol levels and decreasing the spike in blood sugar after high sugar meals. Also used to aid in the digestive process including diarrhea, sluggish intestines, liver disease, inflammation of the respiratory tract, arthritis, water retention and anemia.
