SPEARMINT (Mentha viridis)

Spearmint

DESCRIPTION: The most popular of the three mint varieties, spearmint is used worldwide but originated from the Mediterranean regions and widely used by the Romans. Grows well in nearly all temperate climates. Spearmint leaves can be used fresh, dried or frozen.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Especially useful to aid in digestion, treatment of upper respiratory illnesses, as an anti-inflammatory, and an analgesic.

GENERAL USAGE: Often used in a tea or in an infusion to relieve digestive orders like gas, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, bile duct and gall bladder swelling. Also used in the treatment of sore throat and colds.
