EYEBRIGHT (Euphrasia officinalis)

DESCRIPTION: Eyebright is rich in Vitamins A, B-Complex, C and D and smaller amounts of Vitamin E. It also contains the minerals iron, silicon, iodine, copper and zinc. This herb has been used for ages (since the Middle Ages) for healthy eyes. Eyebright also has antiseptic properties that fight off infection in the eyes.
POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Eyebright aids in strengthening and healing irritated eyes. Eyebright helps to maintain good vision. It is also used as a blood cleanser by stimulating the liver.
POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS: Avoid high doses during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, consult your doctor before taking ANY herb.

GENERAL USAGE: Eyebright has been used to treat a blackeye when used as a compress, as a blood purifier, cataracts, catarrh, the common cold, congestion, coughs, earaches, eye infections, eye inflammation, hay fever, headaches, sinus congestion, hoarseness, as a liver stimulant, memory and as a compress for styes.
