WHAT IS A CALORIE?

The calorie guides you read on this page are approximate values only. Please make a mental note to yourself that your body will burn alcohol as fuel BEFORE your stored body fat. So, even if drinking in moderation is acceptable with a diet your are currently on, it will certainly slow your weight loss.

A calorie is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water one degree C. In other words, in order to burn off calories, you'd have to heat up your body (e.g. - exercise). Obviously, the less calories you take and in coupled with the more you exercise, the faster weight falls off your body.
