Daily Messages from Dr. Standley

As you may have read the notation yesterday on the Daily Message, I had a major computer crash with my Mega-Mondo-Ninja-Commando-Computer. It was a Toshiba laptop that I had for exactly three years and Tuesday it crashed, burned and did everything during a crash except send smoke signals for this Cherokee. I had the majority of the computer backed-up although I did lose some files. DANG! Oh well . . it is what it is and I'm perfectly fine with that. That's just the way the diminutive circular pastry disintegrates. In other words, that's the way the cookie crumbles. (winky wink)

Now for a lesson in, "How did my personality handle it?" I will readily admit, I am a very emotional person (Cancer Rising) in a very sensitive way because I have a triple Grand Trine in the water signs. My "feelings" are very 'sensitive'. And believe me, during intuitive readings - I do feel your pain, shame, blame, happiness, sorrow, desperation, anger, joy, fear, frustration, doubt and anxiousness. I feel every ounce of it once you give me permission to hang out with your 'feelings'. I have developed my emotional actions and reactions over time in a productive and constructive way rather than a non-productive and destructive way. In other words, personally, when it comes to drama, I do not dig on it AT ALL! The last thing I want to do is turn this into an "oh you poor thing" scenario. Baloney! My personality reacts with action. So a couple of hours later, I was at the computer store buying a new Mega-Mondo-Ninja-Commando computer, only now I will add Ultra-Nuclear to its name. I Love this new laptop!

After I allowed my emotions to pull me down to the floor in aggravated tears, my cold Capricorn Moon kicked in and up I sprung within seconds. And I mean seconds! Within minutes I put on Christmas music and was putting up my Christmas lights. It was a great moving meditation to figure out what I was going to do next. My daughter Karmen called within those first few minutes of the crash to tell me about Nursing School that day (as she does every day) and we hung out on the phone for nearly a half hour talking about school before I told her about the crash. Then my little Leo cubbie said, "Well, it looks like Jupiter has something big planned for you with a bigger, better and faster laptop." I said, "That's the way I see it because this has to be for my Highest Good because it doesn't make sense that it would be for my lowest bad." I told her I was going that evening to get a new computer. And that was pretty much the end of the drama.

Whenever I talk about my cold Capricorn Moon, I say this because Capricorn is naturally ruled by the cold planet of Saturn. Think about how far Saturn is away from the Sun. It's cold out there!!! This is what makes Capricorn energy so practical, cold, somewhat serious and business-like. It's tough to sleep your Life away in the freezing cold. Even though I am an emotional Cancer Rising, my cold Capricorn Moon sobers me up very quickly and I snap out of drama within seconds. And I mean seconds. Remember, your Moon is what rules your emotions. I liken it to Sally Fields in the final scene of Steel Magnolia's when she had a meltdown in the cemetary. Suddenly she snapped out of it and quickly said, "I gotta go. I gotta go now. I gotta go. I gotta go now. I gotta go." I asked my daughter Karmen one time what it was about me that really angered her while she was growing up. I wanted to know so that we could clear it. She told me that when I was angry at her, minutes later I would pop my head into her room and say, "Where do you want to go eat?" as if nothing happened. She said, "Mom, I was still mad! You were already over it and wanted to know where I wanted to eat?" There is no doubt, I get over whacked out emotions fast and I can't even remember that I was angry five minutes ago. It's a gift, Thank You God! Yee-Haw. So the computer meltdown? Oh well . . that' the way it goes. Look at your natal chart and note which house is ruled by Capricorn and that is where you are Capricorn-ish. :)

To make a long story shorter, I am now reorganizing the 3000 pages on this website and putting them into their rightful folders. Imagine throwing 3000 pieces of paper into a box and having to sort through them. Yeah, that's what it looks like. Actually, I'm about 5 minutes away from completing that so it's hardly a big deal.

Folks, I cannot stress enough how important positive affirmations are to your livelihood, happiness, success and attitude. I tend to write a lot about overcoming fear in these Daily Messages because I know fear all too well. I happen to have a birth date that introduced me to fear from the day I was born, so I purposefully and deliberately CHOOSE to turn the fear around and use it to my advantage. I cannot imagine for the Life of me deliberately choosing fear to hold me back. If I did that, I wouldn't be talking to you. I get fearful too, just like you, which is exactly why I have to CHOOSE forward motion. I have to confront a fear because for me, that is MY only choice. Folks, whatever I fear in my Life, I would be too afraid not to confront it.

When you are reciting your affirmations, make certain that you are not saying one thing and doing another. For instance, if you are reciting financial affirmations and still spending haphazardly, then you are not following-through on the affirmation. It affirms nothing without action. The purpose of an affirmation is to change your subconscious and what you believe to be true. Affirmations are like the Drill Sargeant and the Soldier. The Drill Sargeant drills something into the Soldier's head and when the time is right the Drill Sargeant says, "Do this!" and the Soldier says, "Yes sir!" It is automatic. When a Drill Sargeant is drilling, he is not just barking out orders and letting the Soldier slide by without action. Are you kidding me? The Soldier has to do it.

Simply reciting financial affirmations claiming victory over debt and then going out and spending more money is not positive reinforcement. It's counter-productive and means nothing! Nada! Not a dang thing! The same holds true for relationship, career or any other affirmation you might be reciting. I'm a golfer and one of the biggest lessons in golf is the follow-through. If I want to have any distance in my game, I have to follow-through.

I remember this patient of mine use to come in and trash talk herself continually. She would call herself fatso, ugly and stupid to no end. I could hardly stand it when she came into the office because her personality was so negative. I kept teaching her about positive affirmations every time I saw her when I finally decided to move in for the jugular shot. I was sick of her self-inflicted trashing talking mouth and so I decided to take direct aim for the knock-out punch.

When I walked into the treatment room and saw her I said, "Well good morning FATSO, how are you?" She said, "Well that wasn't very nice." I said, "Well then stop telling me that is who you are unless you want me to believe it!" After she fell out crying, we fell out laughing and that was the end of her nasty mouth (at least around me). Even though she didn't realize it, she was trying to negatively affirm in my mind who she believed to be. oooooh . . and this Gemini, who naturally rules the 3rd house of mind and communication does not like mind control unless it is positive, fun and enlightening. Trash talk, cursing and negative attitudes is so unattractive and it is all about fear!

Speaking of Sagittarius, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my brother JERRY who is a U.S. Marine, 28 years old today and stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Jerry and I have always been rock concert buddies and we have always enjoyed going to the concerts of our favorite bands - Motley Crue, Def Leppard, The Scorpions, AC/DC, Mama's Pride, Derrick Trucks Band, Eric Johnson and the ever-so-wildly cool Billy Idol. I sure do miss my brother Jerry.

Even though we terribly missed Jerry over the Thanksgiving weekend, it was certainly nice to know that he was enjoying Thanksgiving with our first cousin Bobby, who is also a U.S. Marine and stationed in Okinawa, Japan too. Now THAT is how Sagittarian energy works. Connections and circumstances like that just happen to Sagittarians, especially in foreign countries. Remember that Sagittarians are the gypsies of the zodiac and they rule foreigners, foreign culture, worldly and global affairs. Sagittarians are the globetrotters of the zodiac. Unlike my other siblings, my brother Jerry has trotted all over Europe, Mexico and probably 'at least' 40 of the 50 U.S. states before he ever thought about joining the Marines. This guy just gets about the planet. Like most Sagittarians (about 70 percent of them) they will make their way out of their homeland one way or another.

If you notice under your yearly horoscope, I have updated your Jupiter Opportunity, which is the planet of extra blessings. Most astrologers will refer to this as luck, but I just do not believe in luck because I believe everything happens for a reason, which takes luck out of the equation. That's just me. Jupiter brings massive amounts of extra blessings but rememember you still have to take action. Just think about the size of Jupiter in comparison to the other planets. That's a massive amount of abundance being dropped into a certain area of your Life! Sitting there looking at an opportunity is not the same as taking advantage of it. Please keep in mind that horoscopes are opportunities. If you do not take advantage of the energy present, then you can just chalk it up to a missed opportunity and another lesson in paying attention. Astrology does not take away your free will . . . you do! Astrology can certainly tip you off ahead of time of what is coming your way, but again, it is your free will and your opportunity.

Missing opportunities is just like the story about the guy in the flood who was sitting on the roof of his house waiting for God to rescue him. A log rolled by, swimmer came by, a guy on a jet ski came by, a guy in a motorboat came by and an entire crew in a helicopter came by to rescue him, but the man turned down all of the opportunities telling his rescuers, "No thanks, I'm waiting for God to rescue me." When he drowned and went to heaven, he asked God, "Why didn't you rescue me?" God said to him, "WHAT!?! I sent you a log, a swimmer, a jetski, a motorboat and a helicopter and you turned them all down!"

Thank you for all the prayers. I did finally recover from that plague of a flu just before leaving to go deer hunting. That was perfect timing. Well, after a weekend of deer hunting, I came up empty handed. Rats! Regardless, it was great sitting out in the woods alone for hours on end listening to Nature do its thing. What a spectacular dance it was! Camping in the freezing cold is another story until that first gulp of cowboy coffee in the morning that lets you know you're still alive. Actually, if you are an experinced camper, then you know it really wasn't that bad. Just bad enough. (winky wink) There were eight of us total and only three dogs this time. Sometimes the dog population within our group of friends comes pretty close to outnumbering the human population. It was another laugh-it-up-loudly weekend around the campfire with goof-balls.

Aunt Jackie is the 'Forwarded E-mail Queen' who has rightfully earned that title and Cynthia runs a pretty tight second! Believe me, if you have a joke or a forward these ladies have it covered. If you send me a forward, I just may have those two ladies put you on their e-mail list and then you'll be sorry that you ever put me on your list. (winky wink) Honestly folks, I appreciate the thought but I just do not have time to read forwards because they will keep me from responding to a much more important e-mail. The head's up - On Wednesday, I will be leaving for the Cherokee Indian Reservation in Cherokee, North Carolina to join my family for Thanksgiving. I will be driving down with my daughter Karmen, her husband Larry and my grandson Big Tree. Gratefully, the four of us actually travel quite well together. As usual when I go to Cherokee, I will have my mega-mondo-ninja-commando computer with me to update the website and I will write your daily horoscopes through Friday before I leave just to keep my little chickadees happy and content.

I talk to an astronomical number of people throughout the day, which is simply mind boggling. To astound this Gemini-mind is quite the feat but it does happen. At any given time I can be in the middle of a 'ping-pong e-mail match' with as many as 50 people at a time. That's like juggling 50 instant messages all at once. Sometimes I just have to stop and flop back in my chair and squeal with my trademark high-pitched, eeeeeeeeeeee and giggle at the craziness of it all. Gees, folks . . whatever you choose to do with your Life, make certain you enjoy it because it is beyond words when you enjoy what you do.

I just have one minor plea; can you please, please, please sign your name to your e-mails. Do not assume that I connect with your e-mail address. Sometimes I do, most times I don't. If you do not e-mail me back until the next day and then I have already responded to probably 450 other e-mails during that time, then I cannot remember what we talked about if you do not sign your name. What I connect with is your birth date! That's how I know you. It's weird, but true. If you always sign your name and birth date (name plus month/day/year) and I will remember you whether I wrote a Natal Chart for you or not. And if I wrote a Natal Chart for you, then I will even remember each house and where your planets are located while standing in the middle of the grocery store reading your e-mail on my Blackberry. No name, no birth date and that creates another e-mail from me to you asking, "And who you are?" when we just connected yesterday. Ping-ponging e-mails do not bother me, but sending another e-mail just to ask 'who are you' can be frustrating.

The last thing I want to be is one of those websites where you spend the time to e-mail and simply get an automated response or don't even get a response at that. Hey! We Gemini's are not called the Master Communicators of the zodiac for nothin'.

Often times I am asked how I reached the place in my spirituality and outlook that I live in today, so that I can live my Life with so much peace, Faith and Trust. The following is a poem I absolutely Love and enjoy for so many reasons. It was first introduced to me by my best friend "H" (Henrietta) several years ago. Each sentence, each complete paragraph, I can connect to specific people throughout my Life, even when my connection with that person was painful, yet also taught me so much about myself. Through the pain, joy, anger, laughter, sorrow, surprise, tears, animation and adventure . . . I became who I am today. There were times that the surprise and tears were from complete sorrow, despair and desperation, then other times the surprise and tears were from blissful joy, happiness and Truth. Either way, I am the Loretta that I am today as a result.

Quick Side note Prayer To God -- Thank you God for walking with me, talking with me, listening to me, dragging me, pulling me, standing with me, holding me up and waking me up! I will keep on keepin' on. Thank you, thank you! I commit and devote my Life to You and Your Service. I work for You! Amen~

Today Venus has moved into Sagittarius which changes your monthly horoscope. Make certain that you review your Venus Opportunity under monthly horoscopes and remember that in astrology this is an opportunity that you 'get to' choose to take advantage. You do not have to do anything and that is what we called, "missed opportunities". Today I'm going to teach you how to put the pieces together of your Venus in your Natal Chart. Just read it simply as, you Love like you are that particular sign.

Yesterday I wrote about Venus in my Natal Chart being in Aries. All of the planets are continually moving about the heavens, but Venus was in a certain sign at the exact minute that you were born and that is the influence of energy that you carry where Love and beauty are concerned. So with my Venus in Aries, I would carry the influence of Aries in Love. I would behave like the charging ram and pursue the person or object of my affection ardently and hastily. Oh yeah, I unapologetically and boldly charge after anything or anyone I am interested in.

I remember my first Love back in high school, when we broke up, I went over to his house to pick up my Lynard Skynard 'Pronounced' album. When I arrived, he met me at the door and as he was handing me the album said, "I know you left this here just so you could come back over and see me." Without a word, I took the album, held it over my head and head-butted the album in half. I tossed both pieces into his house and walked away without saying a word. Now is the charging ram of Aries in a Love situation or what? The charging head-butting ram rides again. High-Ho Aries Away! What ego-boy didn't know about me, but I knew about me even at that young age was, "When Loretta is not in Love, she is not in Love." Venus in Aries has a light switch in Love and we can turn that switch on and off with the speed of light without looking back. All I could think about driving away was, "Wow, and I really Loved that album."

Those of us with Venus in Aries are also Tom-Boy's. Now most of you know how much I Love sports. Contrary to popular belief, we girls who have Venus in Aries are the 'real' man's best friend. Men Love us because we are vain, sporty and we just want to have fun (and we won't make a man go shopping with us). Aries rules competition and sport. In high school I was the only girl on boys track and I was a cheerleader. I go to St. Louis Rams football games, St. Louis Blues Hockey games, I play golf, ride my bike instead of drive a car, roller-blade (bad but I do it), fish, camp, hike . . . and yes, I even hunt. Now before those of you who are against hunting e-mail me nasty letters. Save it! I'm going deer hunting anyway this weekend whether that rhymes with your belief system or not. That's who I am, it is part of my chart and sooner or later I was going to fall in Love with it. And what do I hunt with . . I'll be hunting with a 'compound bow and arrow' of course! There are plenty of women out there who hunt with a compound bow and I'm looking for at least a 10 point buck this weekend.

This brings me to my friend Nancy Hightshoe (The Lady Was A Cop), who also has Venus in Aries. Remember yesterday I was talking about having my name plastered across the top of this website because I had Venus in Aries and the website had to be about me. Well here is another example of what Venus in Aries looks like. Folks, I'm telling you, whatever your Venus placement is in, that is who you are and what you Love. Nancy did these things before I met her and she had her website before I ever wrote her chart. If you scan through Nancy's website, you will come across a page that truly reveals Venus in Aries. Remember how I was the only girl on boys track? Well check out this picture of Nancy among all of these cops. Believe me, she is not difficult to spot. By the way, Nancy sells personal safety alarms. So the lesson today? My astrologer taught me to look for patterns when reading and writing charts. As you can see with Nancy and I, we certainly have a lot in common and there is more than that. As for your personal Natal Chart, find where Venus is and read what I wrote. Then go to the website and look up that signs horoscope and find the link at the top of the page for the rulerships and this will help you understand how you have always act and reacted with Love. The more you understand and embrace who and what you Love, the more you can help your Loved ones understand you as well and then the hurting will stop.

Has this whole soul-trek-gig that I've been on the past two days been fun or what!?! Dont'cha just feel great knowing that somehow, someway, something makes more sense than it did yesterday? I do want to emphasize to you folks that I share this information with you so that you can be a better person; so that you understand yourself better; and so that you can operate about the planet more Lovingly, spiritually, productively and effectively. This information is not to be taken lightly so that you can walk around and ask everyone's birth date and then tell them who they are. Oh no you don't my little chickadees!

Make certain that if you are asking for someone's birth date, that you are asking this information so that you can see how this person influences your Life, not so that you can read that person and figure out "what's wrong with them". That just isn't fair. Folks, we are all stumbling, tripping and slobbering all over ourselves just trying to figure it all out. We are all on this wacky journey together. Not separate, but together. How about we cut each other some slack? Just be respectful of each other's birth date because it is sacred territory.

There was a gentlemen the other day who e-mailed me saying that he was considering a reading with me but wanted my birth information to run a chart on me before he booked a reading to see if we were compatible. Even though I do understand where he was coming from, I told him that he wouldn't walk into his doctor's office and ask to see his doctor's medical history before he was treated. And neither will I reveal my birth information to him. Better yet, how about we swap and I post his birth information on the website for the world to see. Folks, all charts are personal and should be respected. Mine should be respected too (as all of you have always done) and I have no problem sharing the ooodles of information with you that I choose about my chart, in the timeline that I choose, in order to teach you, about you. This is my style of teaching you how to read your own chart.

My chart says I have to use myself to teach by example and there is a line that I do not cross. Some charts do not allow for sharing and I will urge a client to put the brakes on it if they reveal too much of themselves. I wrote a chart for an individual who wanted to know if it was okay to use their family in order write a book on their family struggles. The chart for this individual said it was "a must do". The individual went on to become a New York Time's Best Selling author.

This website is named after me deliberately and purposefully. When I had my clinic, if I ran an ad with anyone else's name in it such as the massage therapist or another doctor who worked in my office, the ad never had one response. No kidding! My astrologer said, "Butterfly, what did I tell you?" I ran the ad again with only my picture and my information and started getting speaking engagements and writing opportunities in several different publications. They were calling me. That is also how I ended up doing radio. At one time I had another website before this one and my astrologer (may God rest his soul) had me change it to my name plastered right across the top. And why is that? Because I have Venus in Aries in my 10th house of career and right smack dab across the top of this website is the location of the 10th house in a Natal Chart. This basically says, "Me me me, enough about me, what do you think of me?" Not to mention wherever Venus is in your Natal Chart is where you get that hefty dose of Divine Protection, especially with Venus in Aries. And why is it especially with Venus in Aries? Because Aries is the 1st grader and they are just so young that they don't know any better. Oh isn't that cute! There's Divine Protection for the 1st grader energy right there in my 10th house of career baby! Come on! Folks, there is a method to my madness. And I'm here to help you through your madness. (winky wink)

As a Gemini, I am a (2nd grader), imagine a 2nd grader and 12th grader dating. Sounds a bit odd, but that is exactly what it looks like with a 2nd grader dating a 12th grader in the cosmic world of astrology. But wait! This is where the Rising Sign comes in because the Rising Sign IS the personality of the individual. It is the attitude of the individual. It is a person's approach to the world. It is how other people see that person. So back to the 2nd grader and 12th grader dating. I happen to have a very old Rising Sign (Cancer). Which means my personality is that of a 10th grader and I date someone who happens to have a very young Rising Sign.

So here is the case of a 2nd grader who has something the 12th grader needs and the 12th grader has something that the 2nd grader needs. You would think more youthfulness in dating someone with a young Rising Sign would be the last thing I need but I can be one serious gal. Keep in mind I have an 11th grade North Node (Virgo). I can be so overly analytical and serious that it could drive you nuts. Remember the Daily Message called, It's never just about the car! Something always means everything to me. Huh? So, dating someone with a young Rising Sign lightens my personality and makes me laugh even when I don't want to. If you look at all the other planets in your chart, then you can tell what grade level you act like with regard to that planet. It's just how you 'act' and not how old your soul actually is with that planet. Your Sun Sign dictates the age of your soul. Period! If I were you, I would read Astrological Grade Levels and Credit Cards.

For example, I have my Moon (emotions) in Capricorn (7th grader). My emotions are that of a 7th grader. I have my Venus (Love) in Aries (1st grader). Oh yeah, I can definitely be the whiney and selfish little 1st grader who wants attention in Love and says, "Why didn't you call me?" I have Leo (12th grader) on my 2nd house cusp of value systems, morals, personal possessions and money. I was flipping through the TV channels last night and wondered, "Has everyone lost their mind?!? These are the morals of society today? This is okay!?! Is this how society is spending their money? No wonder so many people are lonely, broke, unhappy and tired." It's not like I have lived to the highest standard with regard to morals because I have taken some really low plunges, but that is also probably why I see it so clearly. The older I get, the more my Leo (12th grade) outlook in the 2nd house sees things in an increased and more mature light.

Whatever you do folks, please, do not start studying your partner to see how old they are until you are clear on how old you are. If you cannot figure you out, how in the heck is someone else suppose to figure you out? Seriously, the worst thing you can do is spend more time studying another individual before yourself. My astrologer always said, "Never read another person's chart until you understand your own. THAT is a karmic boo-boo." Duh Duh Dunnnn . . .

After the mind-blowing day I had yesterday, I just have to share this information, regarding 'old souls', with you again. As an intuitive, it drives me absolutely nuts when other intuitives or psychics will tell one individual after another that they are an old soul. By the way, there is a difference between intuitives and psychics but that is a Daily Message for another day. I understand why they make this common mistake because 'old souls' can be tricky to detect depending on the exact minute that you were born. Not the day, or location, but the exact minute!

Everybody wants to be considered an old soul. Many times I have been called an old soul and I have to chuckle because it just isn't true. It just isn't. In the Land of 'Astrological Grade Levels', I am a 2nd grader (Gemini). It is my Rising Sign (Cancer) that makes me seem to be an old soul, which would be a 10th grader (Cancer). I'm a 2nd grader who acts like an adult in my personality, attitude, how I see the world and how the world sees me because these things are dictated by the Rising Sign. How many times have you heard a mother talk about her child being an 'old soul'? Or someone claim that their romantic partner was an 'old soul' because that person taught them so much. Certainly sometimes this is true because I have one of those 'very old soul' children. The oldest soul is a 12th grader (Leo) and my daughter Karmen is a Leo. On top of that, the older the Rising Sign, the older the individual. My sister Cis is a Leo and my dear friend Renee out in San Diego is Leo.

Interestingly enough, we all have Leo ruling a particular house in our Natal Chart, which is where we would act just like a Leo. So if you have not had all that great of an experience with a Leo, well listen up because you also have Leo in your chart where you take on the Leo traits. My 2nd house of value systems, morals, material possessions and personal money is ruled by Leo. I have had to humble myself out of an arrogant and egotistical mode of behavior and thought with regard to this house. Don't think for one minute that that felt even remotely Good.

Yesterday, I wrote a Natal Chart for a Leo/Leo Rising. This individual is THE OLDEST sign and rising sign of the zodiac. She is a 12th grader with a 12th grade Risingn Sign. After I wrote her chart, I ask her to call me and chills went through my whole body. I had to sit down and was on the brink of tears because I knew I was talking to a real Angel on Earth. When my intuition kicks into high gear, I get chilled, almost freezing in fact. Even more wonderful, she knew who she was. I told her that she was here for me and everyone else, not vice versa. All Leo's are called to a higher standard because they have already lived all the other 11 signs and their rising signs. Yep! That's 12 lives per sign and 144 total. The thing about Leo's is they are now volunteers on earth for us. I just had some information that she needed confirmed and I gave it to her. As a 2nd grade Gemini, all I can say is, "Out of the mouth of babes."

As I wrote in a previous Daily Message, I have personally met one other person (female) who I have written a Natal Chart for who was Leo/Leo Rising. I broke down into tears when I met her and the thing is, she knew why I was crying. She came to me and I was the crying. Wild huh? That was my emotional Cancer Rising coming out. I knew I was in the presence of a real Life human angel. I still tear up just thinking about her. I have also written for two other Leo/Leo Rising people (1 male and 1 female) and I have written Natal Charts for two very famous Hollywood actors (men) who are Leo/Leo Rising who I still consult with a couple times a year. Again, all I can say is, "Out of the mouth of babes."

Folks, here is the deal. Even if you are not a Leo, you have Leo ruling one of your houses where you should be embracing a Leo approach. You might have already been humbled in this area or you might need to humble yourself before the Universe does it for you. And let me tell, THAT does not feel Good. I had to go from being arrogant and egotistical to child-like generosity. Both are forms of the Leo personality but we 'get to' choose how we want to be. The thing about Leo energy is it is "been there done that" which is why the Leo energy can turn so arrogant and bossy. They already know but it doesn't mean the energy should be used to boss, bully and push others around. It means that they should "lead others by example." All I can say is being a Leo has to be tough. As a 2nd grader, it was tough enough to manage one house of Leo much less an entire sun sign. I like being my juvenile 2nd grade self.

The other day I asked a friend of mine about someone who he knew and how that man was doing. I am 'familiar' with the man in question but don't really 'know' him. The man in question and I would be considered acquaintances, if that. My friend told me that we would not be seeing this man and his wife as much because the man no longer talks to his brother who frequently attends many of the same fun-filled events that we go to.

Normally I would just say "oh okay" and leave it at that because I do not care to involve myself in other people's drama. I feel no curiosity whatsoever to concern myself with the drama and gossip of others and ask what the problem is because their drama will take up space in my brain. And I am very protective of what I choose to put into my brain. What caused me to ask, "Why?" only hit me this morning and I believe I asked "Why?" so that I could share the story with you.

My friend said that this couple was visiting his brother and his wife when the brother corrected his toddler child. The man in question took issue with the toddler being corrected by his brother and left his brother's home with his family vowing never to return again. Folks, talk about childish behavior! The way I see it, if my child were doing something that needed correcting, and someone does not say something, then they do not care enough, ESPECIALLY a family member. And if family cannot tell you, then who can!?! If my child were doing something that needed correcting and I can't see it, by golly I want someone to point it out, especially since I would be too close to the situation. It's the same as looking at a picture on a wall from one inch away. You can't appreciate the entire picture unless you stand back and take in the full view.

Certainly, the majority of us are very protective of our children and we would come to their defense out of shear instinct. Even still, children need to be righted and so do we! The view that our children cannot be corrected by anyone else other than us is not beneficial to their growth and development. In raising my daughter, I was definitely viewed as being a strict parent, but I didn't care. I still don't care. What I 'still am' is a parent. It is my job to make certain that my daughter Karmen can exist and co-exist with others on the planet in as safe an environment as possible and that she is a Good human being to herself and others. Having others to help me do just that, whether I am present or away, is important to me. Karmen may be 25 years old now, but I am still her parent.

I have no idea when God will call my presence 'Home' but until then, I will continue to do my best to be a parent and welcome the feedback even when it hurts. And it does hurt sometimes, doesn't it? After hearing the entire story, I think the man in question took the correction personal about his parenting skills and it was not about the child at all. Withholding correction does not help children get to the place that they need to be when you are not present or when you get called 'Home'.

When my daughter is away from me, I want to take comfort in knowing that she can self-correct and does not need others to do this for her. None of us have our best behavior on all the time and neither do our children but correcting them and teaching them to self-correct will certainly make their lives easier to live. Jesus always had something very cool to say about everything. And regarding family differences he basically said, (and I am paraphasing here) " . . if you cannot Love your family, how can you Love me?" Look it up -- Matthew 11:34-38.

Mercury Retrograde is taking place from October 29 - November 19, 2006. There are three times during the year when a focus on "cleaning up your act" can be fairly enlightening. This is during Mercury Retrograde. It is sort of like doing Spring cleaning three times a year and we all know how Good it feels when we move energy around. We feel renewed and regenerated. Please note in the box above that Mercury Retrograde is posted for your FYI.

In other words, you cannot say one thing and do another and then expect this behavior to work out for you. How can you call in a new relationship when you are holding on to an old relationship? If you are still stuck in "my ex use to do that" type of chatter, then the struggle will continue on receiving Mr. or Miss Wonderful into your Life. How can you call in new business opportunities when you have old unfinished paperwork from an old business? How can you expect to handle large sums of money if cannot handle small amounts of money? How can you handle more of what you want if you cannot handle what you already have?

Mercury Retrograde is merely an illusion that communication systems may run haywire, since Mercury rules communication, media and organization. This is merely the Sun casting a shadow on the planet Mercury making it appear as if it is moving backward. When Mercury appears to move backward, then so do we and we start focusing on the past or the past comes back to visit us. Before the past visits us, let's visit the past and clean it up. Let's face it, no planet really ever moves backward. That would be a scientific first! It is just an illusion, but our response to Mercury Retrograde is very real. Actually, our response to anything is real but how soon we can snap ourselves out of the illusion is what is important.

Mercury Retrograde is just like sitting still at a stop light and the car next to you moves up a bit making it feel as though you are moving backward. It's NOT real! Your response may be a jerking motion. It may also be like looking into the side mirror on your car that reads in small print, "Objects may be closer than they appear." They 'may' appear closer but they are not. It's NOT real! This is a time to look at your response to something that is NOT real.

Take advantage of the focus on "cleaning up your act" when Mercury is retrograde. This should be a time of cleaning up your past. This means wrap up old projects, organize your paperwork, closets and garage. In other words, finish up your old business and refrain from starting or signing anything new during this time. Start throwing out the things that no longer serve you and prepare for renewed energy into your life. You can call forth anything you desire once you release the past. Take advantage of the awareness that Mercury Retrograde brings by moving old energy out and calling new energy in.

So how do we handle an Aries Moon or New Moon during this time that asks us to start something NEW? Myself, I will be finishing up something NEW! that I recently started during this time.

Last night as I was headed out to meet up with Karmen, Larry and Big Tree, (my daughter, son-in-law and grandson) for a night of trick or treating at an area Mall, when I learned something NEW! about myself. Actually, I probably did know this seemingly NEW! thing but only chose to be conscious of it yesterday. Being that I am fascinated with my actions and reactions as YOU should all be fascinated with your actions and reactions, I certainly got a chuckle out of myself. Incidentally, I made Big Tree a T-Rex dinosaur costume for Halloween. [She can sew too!] Of course he was the cutest dinosaur in the Mall with a roar that could scare you out of your entire bowl of candy.

Anyway, I had just reached the sidewalk when my neighbor Kim, who is the neighborhood "Pet Sitter," came walking by with one her client's, a cute little slap-happy dog that just couldn't keep his paws to himself. He was absolutely adorable and felt just like a floppy stuffed animal. I have had pets on and off throughout my Life; my favorite being a rabbit that was a Polish Dwarf.
