GREETINGS FROM CHEROKEE, NORTH CAROLINA (5)

Audio'Siyo or Osiyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Read the last Daily Message titled, Greetings from Tampa (4)

Well folks, you know how there is one kid in the family who somehow becomes the chosen one to come to the aid of their parents when they need extra help? Well I happen to be that kid. It's probably because I have a free and spontaneous lifestyle that I can just pick up and go or take off work whenever I want that makes me the chosen one. It's not that my other siblings wouldn't step up, it's because their lifestyle isn't as free spirited and spontaneous as mine.

If you remember back in March I was suddenly pulled away from my work and my daughter Karmen, my grandson Big Tree and myself bolted to Cherokee, North Carolina (where my parents live). Well my mom was in the hospital with a fairly serious health issue. Now you have to understand, the Cherokee are very private people so we don't just blast 'all our stuff' to people we don't know. We keep our 'stuff' within the family and that's just how it is. In other words, we are not a dramatic people. It's the Cherokee way.

Fast forward a couple of months, even though Mom's condition wasn't getting any worse, it wasn't getting any better. Now common sense pretty much says that if what is being done isn't working, then either change it or stop doing it. So after I had a nice conversation with her doctor (winky wink) I finally said, "The hell with it, I'm going to Cherokee and get to the bottom of this business." So, with the exception of the four days I just spent in Tampa, I will be here in Cherokee the majority of the summer. Briefly going back and forth between here and St. Louis. The really great news is that Mom has made a drastic . . and I mean drastic turn-around, which is why Mom and I decided it was okay to share it with you now. We both understand that I do owe my loyal visitors an explanation but it just couldn't be until the timing was right. It's just the quiet non-dramatic Cherokee way. When I typed that she made a "drastic turn-around," Mom laughed and said, "I didn't turn-around, I'm sitting right here." Mom has quite a silly sense of humor.

When my brother Tom came down from Champaign, Illinois to take my Dad motorcycle riding a couple of weekends ago, that was a planned dance with the parents that Tom and I concocted in order to give both of them what they needed. Dad needed a rest from the caretaker role and Mom needed (her tough daughter, meaning 'Me') to get her marked up and thinking pure health. So there you have it folks. Things really are fine. Life is Good and we remain positive. Mom is able to get out and about, although she does need constant assistance. But that is also getting amazingly better. Besides, nothing can keep Mom from shopping or loafing. Loafing is when we just loaf (wander) around and do nothing.

Interestingly enough, before 'The Scorpion King' and I left Tampa on Monday morning to drive back to Cherokee, I woke up sick as a dog. We drove all day Monday and arrived later that evening in Cherokee. On Tuesday, since 'The Scorpion King' had never been to Cherokee, I took him around loafing to all the 'must see' spots and to meet my kin. Then late yesterday afternoon I drove him to Asheville, NC (about 50 miles away) to catch his plane back to St. Louis. When I arrived back in Cherokee, I stopped by my parents house, picked up my Mom and we went to the hospital because I was THAT SICK! I was in so much pain I couldn't bare it one second longer. I figured the diagnosis would be costochondritis, which is recoverable on its own but I wanted to rule out pneumonia, which meant a chest x-ray was in order. As Mom and I walked across the parking lot to the emergency room at the Cherokee Hospital, a woman asked if we wanted her to get us a wheelchair. Mom and I fell out laughing when I said, "We're here for me, not her." I guess you had to be there to get the hilariousness of the statement. When we came out of the hospital there was a Cherokee police officer in the parking lot and since Mom was walking with a cane I said to him, "OFFICER! Arrest this woman! She's raisin' cane!" Both Mom and he got a kick out of that. As it turned out, I have costochondritis and I'll be just fine. In fact, I'm breathing much better today and the pain has gone from a 'ten' on a scale of 1 to 10 . . to about a 'two'. IT'S A MIRACLE!

So there you have it folks! I've been wrapped up in family business. It's all Good, everything really is fine and Mom is going to make a slam-bam-thank-you-mam recovery. Mom and I told Dad this morning at breakfast that he can sleep until I leave at the end of the month and we won't talk to him unless we're spokin' to. (winky wink) He'll have so much rest he won't even know what to do with himself. After I leave here at the end of the month I will be taking my grandson "Big Tree" camping over the 4th of July weekend with the rest of my wacky friends and then I will turn around and come back down here to Cherokee. I told my family that I need these next two days (today and tomorrow) to get my website caught up, so they are going to cooperate with me. Typically I work on the site and Mom sits at the table with me and does her beadwork. We're a team!

Actually, this very minute I am sitting up at the Cherokee Hospital waiting for Mom because she has to make a trip here every day. We have this rhythm that we are in and its working pretty well if I must say so myself. I know that I have some phone calls to return and I will be doing that when Mom and I return to the house. After I complete my daily readings and health consults today, then I will get your Daily Horoscopes back on track. Now that Mom has turned-around and is doing light years better, I'll be getting myself and you back on track.

Until then, as we say in Cherokee . . . AudioDenadagohvyu ['Until we meet again' in Cherokee]

GREETINGS FROM TAMPA, FLORIDA (4)

Audio'Siyo or Osiyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Read the last Daily Message titled, Greetings from Cherokee (3)

Sorry I haven't updated the site in a few days. The Scorpion King and I are on the road headed back up to Cherokee, North Carolina from Tampa, Florida. It's a 10 hour drive and we expect to be in Cherokee by 7:30 PM EDT tonight. The cool thing is I can sit here in the passenger's seat and type my brains out while the Scorpion King drives. Last Thursday we met up with my daughter Karmen, my son-in-law Larry and my grandson Big Tree in Tampa (along with Larry's entire family) for a wedding.

The whole trip has been an absolute blast and I'll be working on getting everything updated as we head back to Cherokee. I had an ugly hotel connection in Tampa and then just decided to give into the process. Hang tight and I'll get everything updated here soon.

and practice being you."

GREETINGS FROM CHEROKEE (3)

Audio'Siyo or Osiyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Read the last Daily Message titled, Greetings from Cherokee (2)

Today I'm in Cherokee, North Carolina but tomorrow . . . POOF . . . I will be on the road again for a few days. Interestingly enough, about an hour after I pass over the mountain out of Cherokee tomorrow morning, my other brother Sam and his family will be coming over the mountain into Cherokee. Now up until yesterday afternoon, we didn't even know my brother Sam was coming down until he called Mom yesterday and told her. Oh the story gets even better. I will be heading to Tampa, Florida tomorrow morning (Thursday), which is about a 10-1/2 hour drive from Cherokee and meeting up with my daughter, grandson (Big Tree) and my son-in-law (Larry) but not before I drop by the Tampa airport and pick up the 'Scorpion King'. (winky wink)

The story still gets better. Remember last June 2008 when my friend Christine and I went to San Francisco for a wedding and surprisingly enough my brother Sam and his family were vacationing in San Francisco, then we had lunch with them before we went our separate ways? Well, it's happening all over again. Sam and his family will be in Cherokee for a couple days (beginning tomorrow morning, even though I'll already be headed out) and then they will drive on to Tampa on Saturday morning to visit his daughter Andrea and see his new grand-baby-girl (Kateri) for the very first time. Some of you may recognize that Kateri is an Indian name. Kateri (my niece) was named after the first Indian Saint (Kateri Tekakwitha). May daughter and I will be making a visit to see Kateri as well. It just seems no matter where I go, I can never get too far away from my family. I will be back in Cherokee at the beginning of next week until the end of June.

I want to remind you that the Moon is in Aries today, which is a time of 'new beginnings'. When the Moon is in Aries, it is THE BEST TIME of the month to renew what you have already started or to start something brand spankin' new. If you have been coming to this website long enough, then you would have known that simply because you are a Good Doobie. (winky wink) I did write a quick message about this on your Daily Horoscope.

Today I am helping my parents get a few necessary things back on track, so this Daily Message is actually being updated from a parking lot. Now don't feel guilty about calling folks because this is my lifestyle and my family knows it. Remember, I am a Gemini and quite capable of doing two things at once. My parents were cheerfully reminded of my 'gift of juggling' this morning when they saw that I could do for me and them at the same time without skipping a beat and without an ounce of stress. I'm a no stress type of gal so doing two, three or four things works way better for me than one way. It's just the way it is.

If you call today, I will be returning all phone calls after 1:30 PM Eastern Time. All 'new' TYS e-Course students . . make certain you make that phone call to me before you begin the program. I am still expecting a phone call from a few of you and you know who you are, so pick up that phone before you begin. I like to give a little swift kick in the pants before anyone begins the TYS e-Course. Please remember to leave your time zone. Since I chat with people from all over the world, the time zone is very important because otherwise I might be calling you in the middle of the night or early in the morning depending on where you live. If you leave your time zone then I'll make certain I call you back at a decent hour. If you live outside of the United States, then you need to have a Yahoo Messenger account, so I can call you back through the computer.

All ordered Natal Charts will be e-mailed within 48 hours of ordering as long as you have already sent me back a birth information confirmation. As always, I'm the easiest person on the planet to reach and you know where to find me. My number is always at the top of each page. Oh, and if you sent me a long e-mail . . I can't stress enough how much easier it would be to call me. I'm a phone gal.

GREETINGS FROM CHEROKEE (2)

Audio'Siyo or Osiyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Well I'm still here in Cherokee and my brother Tom left to go back home to Champaign, Illinois. (See Tom's picture in yesterday's Daily Message.) If you've been coming to this website long enough then you know how I feel about my family. Not to mention I think that I have the best siblings in the world (hands down). Now its me, mom and dad trying to talk over each other and be heard. I guess you have to be here to understand that statement. Unless of course my sister Ahinawake (across the street) piles in on the conversation then we'd be bustin' a gut listening to her laugh or sing (one of the two). After all, she is the 'Karaoke Queen Internationale' and her name in Cherokee does mean 'Laughing Eyes'. Believe me, Ahinawake lives every bit up to the name.

Today I'm going with my parents to eat lunch with the elders and see if I can pick up some Cherokee wisdom. The elders eat lunch together every week day and its always a blast to sit with them and hear 'em go after it. Remember this pic below when Mom (pictured left) won 'The Funniest Comic Elder' on Elders Day at the Fall Festival about a year and a half ago and her friend Glenda (pictured right) won for 'Best Dancing Elder'. Click here to read more about my Cherokee citizenship. I'm an Eastern Band Cherokee Indian (EBCI) and we are not a very big tribe. There are probably just over 13,000 of us, which leaves very few full-bloods. My mom and Glenda are two of those full-bloods.

If you call today, I will be returning all phone calls after 3:30 PM Eastern Time. Please remember to leave your time zone. Since I chat with people from all over the world, the time zone is very important as I could be calling you in the middle of the night or early in the morning depending on where you live. If you live outside of the United States, then you need to have a Yahoo Messenger account, so I can call you back through the computer.

GREETINGS FROM CHEROKEE, NORTH CAROLINA

Audio'Siyo or Osiyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Read the last Daily Message titled, Some Things Never Change

Well folks, I'm still down in Cherokee, North Carolina visiting my family. My brother Tom (the dentist) is still in town from Champaign, Illinois. Tom has been hanging with Dad riding motorcycles, shootin' guns, eatin' ribs and takin' names . . . Mom and I on the other hand have been shopping, makin' jewelry, visiting kin and playin' BINGO! As much as it may seem that I am on vacation, I'm really not because wherever I go, so goes the mega-mondo-ninja-commando-computer. That's just how I roll. (winky wink) Just yesterday Dad and Tom went on a motorcycle trip to the tail of the dragon. It's a place where there are 318 curves in 11 miles. Those ka-ray-zee boys! Click here to read more about my Cherokee citizenship. Below is a picture of my brother Tom (the other Dr. Standley). He's actually standing by my Dad's motorcycle. Yes ladies, my brother Tom is single and snaggin'.

Since I'm going to be here in Cherokee the majority of the summer, I'm pretty much stocked here in Cherokee to make the Tsalagi Bath Salts. So today Mom and I will be making bath salts all day and shipping them out, while the boys (Dad and Tom) do their thing. Then later Mom and I will get into jewelry mode and she'll show me up with her beading. Since I write the horoscopes for our newspaper here in Cherokee called, "The Cherokee One Feather," I'll probably get those written today as well so I don't have to write them later in the week. The mountains are beautiful, the company is sweet and the air is clean. Believe me, there's no better place to work with family breathin' down your neck. hahahahahaha!

All ordered Natal Charts will be e-mailed within 24 hours of ordering as long as you have already sent me back a birth information confirmation. BOREDOM IS A GIFT

Audio'Siyo or Osiyo [Hello in Cherokee]

Read the last Daily Message titled, Some Things Never Change

First, my mailing list is not functioning right now. I'm certain it will be fixed soon. Yeppity-do-dah . . . guess what song was this morning's Musical DLG ™  (Download from God ™ ); none other than Bobby McFerrin's, "Don't Worry Be Happy." Folks, I realize that I have been out-of-pocket and it appears as though I have taken a wrong turn and fallen off the planet but I assure you that Life in my world is really just fine and dandy. I've lost 25 lbs. on my P90X program and I still have 10 lbs. to go. I look in the mirror and hardly recognize myself sometimes. I've even gone on a few sizzling dates. oooh la la Oh, I assure you, I'm doing great on this end of the computer. (winkity winky wink) After spending 8 tireless years (day and night) working on this website and ignoring myself, I finally have my body and mojo back. Good for me and I think I deserve it. More importantly, I owe it to myself because I should be an example of health with my North Node Virgo. ooh-rah!

For those of you who come to my website only for horoscopes, then it may appear as though I'm just not updating the website or doing anything significant in my life. I think anything I choose to do with my time is important but I also realize that I cannot do everything in one day and sometimes . . sometimes . . for a brief period of time, something may suffer and it will be okay. In this case, it was horoscopes. This serves as the perfect time to remind my visitors that I am much more than an astrologer and I do have other things on my plate besides astrology. I am interested and engaged in more things than just astrology. This website is about 70 percent health and 30 percent astrology. So you see, there is much more to ol' Dr. Standley than meets the astrological pages of this website.

I'll be honest and tell you that 'boredom is the gift' that takes me down so many different paths. That's why I have so many projects that I juggle on a daily basis. I am a Gemini and we Gemini's have to have more than one thing to occupy our mind, hands and time. Remember several months ago I told you about an opportunity I was given to create a full line of bath salts for a resort chain? Well, that project is shaping up nicely and I had to give it some face time. I also have several workshops and speaking engagements lined up throughout this summer that I had to give my attention to, which involves creating handouts and new Power Point presentations. Not to mention, working through what I will say in the amount of time I am given to say it. Folks, if I have EVER talked to you on the phone, then you know that once you get me on the phone, I'll talk your dang ear off. I'm a Gemini, the master communicator of the zodiac. (winky wink) And then a couple of weeks ago I needed extra time to make additions and changes to this website.

This is also the perfect time to remind my visitors that more often than not, this can be an incredibly thankless job but I do it anyway. I get up and do it all over again the next day. Some people thank me and others will fire off an e-mail and want to know where their horoscope is today and let me know that I'm not doing enough for them for free. I'm chuckling right now and being very sarcastic because my personality is like that! Heck, I may never hear from a visitor except in the moment I don't update the site and they don't get their horoscope, then they can't e-mail me fast enough to let me know how lazy or rotten that is. "WHATEVER!" Injecting sarcasm again. Never mind the times when I do have the site updated or horoscopes posted early. You guessed it, I've never heard from those same people during those times. Oh well, one thing I do know is their attitude probably impacts other areas of their Life as well and that's a bummer! If you've been coming to this website long enough, then you know complaining, nagging, whining and critical abrasive people severely rub me the wrong way, especially when I'm creating something for them for free, in my free time. I don't need to make money off every dang thing that I speak, type or touch but I certainly don't need anyone yanking my chain over what I do for them in my free time. Know what I mean jellybean. Don't worry, be happy folks . . no visitor(s) bring me down. I'm a happy silly gal and just fine. I'm also grateful that I do have a website to speak my Gemini mind.

One thing the whining does for me is remind me what a truly wonderful and free-spirited life I live. Life on my end of the computer is just fantabulous. While I realize that my gift of boredom can throw others off their track, I have to remain true to myself and embrace my gift of boredom because it truly makes me a unique and whacked out individual. I Love that about me even if others don't.

Now I'm going to run along and settle you back into a horoscope routine that will feel better than the past couple of weeks. Please note, there is a 'donate' link on this site in the top right corner if you feel compelled to show your appreciation for the information and work I have provided to you thus far. Folks, I have no intention of running off and giving up on this site. Remember, it's just me here. Just little ol' me.

"Now get out there, go place yourself UP!
and practice being you."
