Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.

Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.

Sometimes it is necessary to review the rules of kindergarten to remember how to be nice to others and use Good manners. And sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the 'Activities of Daily Living' in order to take better care of ourselves and start living Life rightly.

Any doctor worth their degree will tell you that Good eye health begins with Good nutrition. It's just a fact! The older I get, the better I eat, and gradually my eye prescription has gotten better every year. Keep your eyes flushed and clean with saline solution, DO NOT SMOKE and eat green leafy vegetables, oranges and other citrus fruits, salmon, tuna and non-meat protein sources such as eggs, beans and nuts to support your healthy eyes.

If you have a 'muffin top' doing more crunches is not going to shrink your waistline. While crunches will work the underlying abdominal muscles, there is still the case of fat laying on top of the muscle. So all of that crunching will not be seen if there is still fat on the muscle. The only thing that will shrink the fat is proper nutrition and burning calories (cardio). Do 30 minutes of cardio today whether that is marching in place, going for a brisk walk, riding a stationary bike, etc. Burn baby burn!

Activities of Daily Living - Housework and Cleaning

A lot of people clean by the 'top to bottom' rule but I just don't agree with it. With as much stuff that lands on the floor indicating 'depression' or a 'depressed spirit' I believe cleaning should be from 'bottom to top'. Get that stuff off the floor! If you need a quick pick-me-up, don't rely on coffee, bend over and pick up your stuff from 'bottom to top' and your spirit will feel picked-up as well.

If you are looking for additional ways to create money, then you need to slow down your energy so you can think of ways to create money. Actively search for ideas that pique your interest. I was 22 years old when I started my first business and I found the idea in a back issue of Entrepreneur magazine. Now there is Etsy.com, Pinterest.com and eBay.com which can give you ideas galore. Stop looking for ways to spend your money and start looking for ways to create more money.

Find your muse. A muse is a source of inspiration that propels you into creativity and productivity. Everyone needs a driving force or guiding spirit that helps them get to the place that they need to be. Whether your muse is a spiritual being or a human being, it is important to have a muse, so you can muse (think and reflect).

Are you pink and puffy? Inflammation is where dis-ease and disease begin. Your internal body can be pink and puffy even if you don't realize it. Improper nutrition can cause dis-ease and disease and proper nutrition can cure dis-ease and disease. "Itis" means "inflammation of". Bronchitis, colitis, conjunctivitis, hepatitis, laryngitis, meningitis, pericarditis, rhinitis, tonsillitis, plantar fascitis, myocarditis, bursitis, appendicitis, diverticulitis, gastritis, gingivitis, arthritis, vasculitis, etc. Foods that make the body inflamed (pink and puffy are sugar, gluten, saturated fats, trans-fats, MSG (mono-sodium glutamate), refined carbohydrates and Omega 6 fatty acids. Before your body shows up as pink and puffy on the outside, it is already pink and puffy (inflamed) on the inside.
