Nothing is a bigger waste of time and productivity than leaving a mess in your wake.
April 7th

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) is a real term used in healthcare that refers to daily basic self-care activities in an individual's residence, outdoor environment or both. The ability or inability that an individual performs their ADLs is a measure of the functional status of the individual, particularly the injured, those with disabilities and the elderly. Very young children require assistance from adults to perform ADLs since they have not yet developed the skills necessary to perform ADLs on their own.

Basic ADLs (bADLs) are the things we normally do such as bathing, dressing, feeding ourselves, functional mobility, personal hygiene and grooming. Instrumental ADLs (iADLs) are things such as housework, money management, preparing meals, shopping and work.

Sometimes it is necessary to review the rules of kindergarten to remember how to be nice to others and use Good manners. And sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the 'Activities of Daily Living' in order to take better care of ourselves and start living Life rightly.

Below you will see 7 simple activities to accomplish at some point during the day all under the motivation of the the daily mentation question below. You have 24 hours to get through this question along with the 7 activities. READY? SET? GO!

Activities of Daily Living - Mentation Question

When was I in the moment and missed the big moment?

Activities of Daily Living - Hygiene and Grooming

Your body sheds and regrows the outer skin cells every 27 days. In total, on average, you will have grown about 1,000 outer shells (skins) in your entire lifetime. All the more reason to exfoliate and scrub your skin to keep it smooth and healthy. Exfoliating puffs are perfect for this job, which you can purchase at the dollar store.

Activities of Daily Living - Physical Activity

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese art that promotes mental and physical wellbeing. The movements are slow and controlled. You won't improve your cardiovascular fitness or get a calorie-burning workout, but it will improve your strength, flexibility and balance. Take a few moments to research Dr. Paul Lam on www.YouTube.com. He has online video's for beginners and those who are wheelbound. I Love it and I think you will too. I use Tai Chi as a moving meditation.

Activities of Daily Living - Housework and Cleaning

One junk drawer should be sufficient in any home. You can pull your junk drawer out and sit on the couch with a wastebasket near you as you clean it out listening to the evening news. While it may seem a tedious task, it is even more tedious to use your time digging through a junk drawer for something that is not even in there. Organize the junk drawer or just turn it over and dump it out.

Activities of Daily Living - Financial Management

One of the biggest ways anyone can impact their monthly savings is through getting healthy. Buying more vitamins won't do it but changing your overall lifestyle will. If you eat healthy and move your body, you wouldn't need the expense of vitamins and you certainly don't need another gym membership or piece of home exercise equipment you won't use. Today, think about the ways you use money that negatively impacts your health, then STOP IT!

Activities of Daily Living - Work and Productivity

Nothing is a bigger waste of time and productivity than leaving a mess in your wake. Having an "I'll just clean it up later" approach means that later you will not be doing something else because you are busy back-tracking or maybe you aren't busy back-tracking because now you are busy trying to find something through the mess you created. Enough already folks! Chances are you are an adult reading this and its time to stop the tornadic behaviors.

Activities of Daily Living - Food Preparation

Crock pots (slow cookers) are inexpensive. Still, if money is tight, buy one (or two) of them at Goodwill. You can even use the bowl that lines the inside of the crock to cook food in the microwave. I saw at a kitchen home party demonstration a bowl they referred to as a 'magic pot' and it was really nothing more than a bowl (like out of a crock pot) that was put in the microwave. The crock pot bowl is a lot cheaper.

Activities of Daily Living - Today's Healthful Nutrient

Choose two (2) of the 'Chromium' foods below
and incorporate them into your diet today.
Get creative!
